Could either be the E-Brake switch, or there may be a wire on your master for your brakes. but that normally only makes the brake light come on when its empty and you press the pedal down to the floor... I have a video somewhere of it on my old wagoon.

My 69 had it, yours should. IIRC it isn't actually on the MC, its on a block near it though.... I took a video of it also.

Could be the e-brake switch to show when its on off is faulty, or maybe that wire on the distribution block is getting grounded or something?? Should be an easy fix.

Newer Datsuns had a switch on the Master Cylinder to light the lamp when low on fluid

Many Datsuns (in USA) used a differential switch on the firewall to detect pressure difference between front and rear brakes. that can light up the instrument panel BRAKE lamp.

Finally, there is the brake switch at the pedals. That does not cause the panel lamp to activate, but only the rear stop lights.

Check the owner's manual of your Nissan to see exactly what the BRAKE lamp is for.

mine did that all the time. turned out my reservoir sensor was bad. i just unplugged it and called it good. its just the little 2 wire plug on the brake fluid reservoir.

its also a way to diagnose it. unplug it, if the light goes out, theres your problem. if it stays on its something else.
