JoeR
I have an exhaust leak and I have determined that its coming from the collector and not the manifold (thank god) Any tips or tricks on how to replace it? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
This is the dual down pipe into one before the bend? Just take the three nuts off lower pipe remove what's left of the old gasket and replace with new, put back together. The old bolts can be so heat rusted that they snap off so expect and be ready for this. As long as there is some of the stud left you can heat around it with a propane torch and get it very hot then turn out with vice grips. If you have a set of acetylene torches try to get the metal red hot. I replaced mine with stainless studs and nuts. I removed your double post from 8 min ago. Quote Link to comment
josh_t
make sure you make that gasket surface nice and clean too. in automotive class we had a 3m roloc pad for removing gaskets. it wasnt the sanding pads. more like a buffing pad. it got everything off quick and easy but didnt do anything to the metal. ggzilla
Wait for the exhaust to cool off. An hour or two should do it. It cools off quicker than cast iron manifolds. Quote Link to comment
