So I ordered the clutch slave from RockAuto on Thursday evening, and it will be delivered today, Saturday. That was fast! Maybe I can get my dad to help bleed it and take him for a ride?

It's out in the barn under its cover for Christmas. My big present to myself!

Happy Holidays

To bad that ugly ass blue car ruined the great shot this could have been. :(

Can you do a do over? Just make sure you move the blue one.

You have what looks like a 70's chevy truck in the garage.

"better" barn pics

this is after an all day work session to repair some things on the intake and exhaust side of things

there were no bolts holding the intake and exhaust manifolds on

most of the intake and exhaust nuts were torqued properly

one of the gaskets for the SU intake was missing

the plugs were gapped around 0.25mm, I gapped them to the specs on olddatsuns.com. they are Autolite Platinum

adjusted the timing to 12 BTDC per olddatsuns.com

cleaned carbs thoroughly, first dealing with dual carbs and SUs

this is a mild L20b, cam and SUs, what should the gap be for the plugs and the single points in a SSS dizzy with jacobs electronic ignition? what about valve lash?

what can I do to keep the block vent tube in place? in WILL NOT stay in the hole in the block. sealant? screw? it won't stop leaking smoke!

I drive that truck to the dump and back. In my rural setting, it is the only garbage service we have! I usually take some of the boys with me. It's about 8 miles roundtrip, on dirt roads.

It's a 1970 F100 Custom. Maybe I'll take some pics next time I go to the dump!

O.O

I see balance weights on the outside lip of that wheel.

Nice wheels should be static balanced, or tape weighted. >.<

I do so love those wheels, though. I think they look great!

Well.

My trip to work was rather uneventful until I got back to my little town and the oil light started to flicker.

My heater is pretty poor.

I have a pretty significant leak in the oil pan area, and the stupid vent pipe aforementioned.

I might have a leaking rear main.

I also have a trickle of coolant from the water pump.

Thinking that I really want to get a throttle cable for the SUs.

I guess I'm gonna start planning on a rebuild for the L20, to include rings and all gaskets and seals.

What's the best rebuild kit to go with? I've been happy with what I've ordered from RockAuto. Beck/Arnley vs. OEM Nissan? If I can get a discount on a genuine Nissan rebuild gasket kit.

Looks like that engine's coming out!

Got a lot of compliments on the car at work. That's a nice feeling.

Pic to please:

The SUs work all right. They do kind of bog at first throttle input, but other than that they run good. I have the "jetlink" SU pages printed out. I may look into the dash pot oil.

On a related note, what's the best donor for a throttle cable setup for the 510 with dual SUs? 240SX, 210, truck?

Sealed Power re-ring kit with bearings, rings, and gaskets is $113 from AutoZone. Should be ordering one at the end of this month.

Stopped by my parent's house today. I thought I remembered a few plastic shoe boxes full of small parts, bolts, bits, etc. from my previous 8 years of Datsun ownership.

JACKPOT!

Never like finding something for free, plus finding a "stash 'o' bolts" for the car is awesome.

Oh, what I can get done on a weekday off
