Lowla Useta's 510 Cannibalism. FS/FT: May 2013

Lowla Useta be a 1969 Datsun 510 ...... . I got her in Feb. 2002 as a white bubble flared 2 door rolling shell,, that looked pretty straight and rust free

 

after a few paint colors I noticed the driver's side quarter panel, and tailight panel, is all riveted on .. without any welds... I still need to fix that.. :mad:

 

 

July 2002:

2 weeks later someone hit my LF fender, and the tired L20 started to overheat a few weeks after that:

I tried fitting a Yamaha R6 motor:

The R6 motor was never going to work .... not enough torque, and I didn't have a welder yet

 

... so I tried a FWD CA16DE, out of a FWD Pulsar:

 

 

 

 

 

I kept hacking into the firewall, until the front sump oil pan fit behind my stock crossmember: .... the motor was moved back about 8"

No, I traded the BB tailights in partial trade for Rusty Ruby. but that's in 4 years after this car gets parted out a few more times

 

 

 

Meanwhile,, back in 2008.... I got a L18, with dual Mikunis, off craigslist:

I painted the bay with 2 stage black, and clear:

1" raised LCA front X-member, adjustable LCA's, T/C rods, shortened 510 struts w/ MR2 inserts

I started cleaning up the replacement LF fender:

And I got a staggered set of Panasports ..... 16x7 +22 front, on 510 struts .... and 16x8 +12 rear

 

 

 

 

I painted the 16x8's black ... .. and started dreaming about having the lowest 510 ever:

Look at the brake drum: ..... easy way to lower a 510 ... :lol:

 

 

 

 

 

 

The front was low enough, with the coilovers turned all the way down ..... and 3/4" spacers to fit the 16x8's at full drop:

 

 

 

But I needed bags in the back, to go any lower .... concrete bags .. :lol:

And the 16x8 +12's didn't exactly 'fill up' the rear flares:

 

 

 

 

So I started researching what offset I would need ... I borrowed these 13x7 wheels off my friend's AE86: . (unknown offset) 185/70/13 tires:

Then I went crazy, again ... and I decided to 'body drop' the front end 2 inches:
