84 Nissan/Datsun Truck
I was inspecting my 84 720 while it was warming up this morning and I noticed antifreeze/water leaking from the bottom of the water pump. Does anyone know of a site where I can reference hot to repace the water pump. Also, what other things will I need (silicone/gasket)? I am trying to do all of the minor engine work myself. Thanks for all of your past help. John Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
A) If you plan on doing anything more than routine oil changes you probably should get a manual. Haynes is my preference (aside from factory manuals) but a Chiltons will do in a pinch, and they show up in used bookstores as well as eBay if you can't find new. B) Water pumps are easy. 1) Drain coolant 2) Remove belts 3) unbolt & remove fan shroud and fan. 4) unbolt & remove pump. 5) Clean up gasket surface on front cover. DO NOT use silicone. New pumps come with a gasket. Do 4, 3, 2, 1, in reverse to reinstall. Quote Link to comment
84 Nissan/Datsun Truck
Thanks for your help. I will look on eBay for a Haynes manual. I will try to change my water pump this week-end. Is there a certain brand any of you reccomend or will any brand suffice? John. Quote Link to comment
