phatdave
I have been getting ready to stuff a clutch into my truck thats been setting for years. I have a "280 Z" 5 speed that I am using and need some help. The clutch fork has a hole in the Slave end,the slave rod passes right through it. What is happening or am I being really STOOPID?: Quote Link to comment
71-521
strange...it should ride in a cup but not have a hole... somewhere I had a link to a Z site that had all the info on the clutch forks.. hmm, I'll see if I can find it again... found the throwout bearing size chart....(4 different ones!): http://dimequarterly.tierranet.com/tech/clutch.replacement.figures.jpg Quote Link to comment
phatdave
yeah well thats what I thought. A cup-like indentation that the slave rod runs into. This is just a round hole. Like thumb -finger okay sign and other pointing finger if the hole. Kind of like the universal sign for fu88ing! Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
the fork with the hole I know was on the 521/510 series. The treded rod went thru. There will be a threaded ball that goes with this as to adj the slop out of the slave cylinder throw. The later slave cyl just had a rod comming out of the slave. The rod just was a rounded end that went to a Clutch fork (it just was cuped) No hole. Most slave cylinders are the same for most L motors(521 had different) But just find a matching rod for it To PhatDave From your best buddy Hainz!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Early Z's had the threaded rod too. The fork is probably older than the transmission; maybe someone had installed the tranny in a older Z, or just liked having the adjustable fork (probably had the wrong throwout collar).
