Hey

Newbie here but just bought a 67 520, P.O put an L18 in it but did not put the heater back in cuz he said it didn't fit as the block is longer..... I myself living in the pacific north west need a heater plus defrosting abilities. Has anyone run across this before or will it go back in as it should

I would have to look at it, if the engine has a stock fan then probably not, if it is electric then maybe. I have a L20b in mine(or did have, no engine in it right now), I had to modify the heater box and run the hoses to the side out from in back of the engine, the engine is to close to the firewall in my truck. North vancouver wa.?

north vancouver bc .... thanks wayno, i`m putting an L20 in mine too, i haven`t looked at the heater core yet but did you move the outlets from the core(understand what i`m tryin to say)? that would be like making a new core wouldn`t it.... maybe i should look at it closer

it is a stock fan right now, no plans for an electric though i don`t see how that would change where the block sits against the firewall

What I was getting at about the fan was, if they removed the fan because it would hit the radiator, then the engine would have been far enough forward to use the stock holes in the firewall with some minor changes to the core outlets, but since you have the stock fan, then the block is within an inch of the firewall, mine is about a half inch away in that area, I had to cut that lip off the firewall where the brake lines are because the valve cover was hitting it. So if you have more than an inch behind the engine where the heater core holes are you can make it work, here are a few photos of my heater core hoses, it is very tight in there, notice how the one hose is already turning in the hole coming out of the firewall, I was able to do this by cutting an inch or so off the heater core outlet and connect the hose to it before I put the heater box into position, that's why you see no hose clamps, they are inside the cab. These photos are of my 521 with the SD25 diesel engine in it, it's the same idea here, just a 520 this time.

Yes I bought from 620green, two separate times, fairly close together(week apart maybe), the first item I was given a tracking number that I never checked, the second item I was never given a tracking number, the items were small, it took a couple 3 weeks maybe but they both arrived about a week apart. As I said, my parts were small, a grill is much larger, how was it shipped? If it was put on a ship, it could take 3 months, my parts went 1st. class regular mail. I bought a kingpin kit from one of those guys in bangkok or something like that, shipping was cheap, it took 3 months. How long have you been waiting? Seems like this guy(620green/Dett) has been a good source for hard to find parts we can't get in the USA anymore if we ever could.

Was wondering why the door wouldn't close easily and thought it was the hinges but it turns out to be decayed metal on the door....

Will post picks ASAP
