For sale: Datsun 610 Vintage Race Car and Rat Rod. I picked up this car barely running last year and have spent the last year prepping it for my vintage race car club (VSCDA). But now that they have upped the newest year of eligilbility to 1989, I need to find a good new home for my 610 before I change classes to a newer car (maybe a 300ZX?). This car is a 1973, but was updated to a 1975 per SCCA Improved Touring rules to go with a L20B and a 5 speed transmission by the previous owner back in the 1980s. It was campaigned as an SCCA ITB car in Florida from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s, and then stored as is- kind of a racing time capsule. I purchased it a year ago with the intent of going the "Rat Rod" route, ie, updating the mechanicals, but leaving it's racing patina (racing dents and scratches) intact. The car has one shakedown race weekend on it, with the only significant problem being a old clogged radiator that would run hot (210) towards the end of some of the hotter sessions. That has been resolved with a new radiator. It has a VSCDA 2011 annual tech, and all the safety gear is up to date.
Some details:
Body/Frame:
Florida car with some rust at the front of the right rear wheel well/door corner as well the left rear bottom quarter panel,but frame and suspension points are solid.
LOTS of dents and scratched paint- in vintage racing we call it "patina" Paint job very "80s"
Full cage with door bars
3 year old Fuel Safe 8 gallon Enduro Cell with new fuel lines and filter
Engine:
Stock L20B long block.
New oil pump with adjustable oil pressure
New oil cooler and lines
New timing chain set
Header running thru glasspack muffler
3 year old Weber 32/36, properly race jetted at last outing with K&N air cleaner
New motor mounts
New Griffin 24x16 double core radiator, hoses, thermostat, and belt
Interior/Safety/Race:
Race seat with 5-point latch link belts good thru 2013, seat back attached to roll cage
Wink race mirror
Fire extinguisher
Tach, oil pressure, oil temp, and water temp gauges
Proper SCCA kill switch with correct alternator cut-off
Separate ignition, fuel, main electrical, and fan shutoffs
AMB Transponder
Rear end:
Weld diff, Royal Purple Lube
Spares:
4 new oil filters
Used water pump, oil pump, starter, fan belt, plugs
Factory shop manual
Hood, doors, and trunk lid
SCCA log books (2) and VSCDA log book
Lots of receipts
Tranny:
5 speed filled with Royal Purple, clutch and tranny shift well
Brakes:
New stock calipers with Ferodo pads, new rotors, front wheel bearings, new front braided brake lines
New rear wheel cylinders and braided brake lines, shoes, hardware, and drums in good condition
New master cylinder
Tires/Wheels:
one race on Hoosier Street TDs 205/60-13
Ansen Aluminum wheels
Suspension:
Cut springs,Monroe gas shocks, and big sway bars front and rear
Optional high performance parts package for an additional $1000 (not available separate!) to the buyer only:
Ported and polished peanut head with hot cam of unknown type
Dual side draft Webers on aftermarket manifold with linkage
Port matched big tube header
Z20 block with high compression pistons- had great oil pressure, but borderline compression
MSD7 Electronic ignition setup
(all the above pulled from running Datsun drag car)
Used Koni rear shocks
New Hawk Blue Blue Front pads
Used competition large capacity oil pan
Fiberglass front fenders (used/need repair)
Wheel flairs, front and rear

Okay, I have had a number of trade inquiries- the trades I would consider would be the following: 1989 or earlier of the following Datsun 260/280/300, Mazda RX7, Honda CRX, or Toyota MR2 SCCA Improved Touring ITA cars
