Sweet build dude!! My friends were telling me about a few new 510 owners in SD. I'm one of them too.

Thanks, I am totally new to 510's. Alway's wanted to own one. This particular beast was just in the right place at the right time and i couldn't pass it up. I have found some local support from the San Diego 510 people and they have been very helpful with setting me up in the right direction. Anytime you want to get together and work on either of them let me know. I keep my Beer fridge, tools, radio and dime all within 10 feet of eachother at all times!

that car is bad ass.

I dont know if I seen it before as I seen 2 box flaired silvers 510 on here and then the onwers dissappear never to be seen again. So dont know if these are the same cars and owner runs out of money(Usually the case for most Datsun owners)then sell it off to the next guy that doent complete it.

Some of the locals here recognize the car from the San Diego Craigslist ad (about a year ago). It sat waiting for me, It is a rolling shell but alot of great work including Reinforcing the frame and suspension items has been put into the car. I love her and have no plans to ever part with her anytime soon. If i have to sell my dodge magnum to continue this build i will. :D

Nice start. Is that a frame rail down the length of the passenger side?

Yes, both sides, the car has been "full framed" it was done nicely and seems to be very clean with the exception of the floor panels needing a few more spot welds and sealing. also you can see the elaborate thought they put into the roll cage wich comes completely apart into 5 parts. (seems over-engineered but awesome).

So did you get boxes of parts with it, or is this your starting point.....

Yes i have a box full of parts: Hood, Dash parts, poly bushings for suspesion, grille, lights, door panels, HKS Blow off valve (left over from original SR20DET that was in it), and some other parts. I recently got a bumper, steel lower valance and front lights.

I would say that i have a long road ahead of me though. ther isn't one wire in the whole car so a swap would have to include everything to make it turn key.

funky cross member??????? tryn to think what oilpan is go n to fit that one.its eith front or rear sump. this put its still in the middle ,in the way!!!!!!!!!!

This car was orinally a Drag car and the crossmember was engineered to support an SR20DET, even the control arms have been redrilled to change the geometry up front. funny thing there are actually two nipples sticking out the rear panel for charging the car between drag runs (no alternator). maybe i have the first "Electric" 510:lol:

anyway, i am leaning towards a VG33E build. but that's a long way off right now.

Build a VG33, look at xterra forums. I think bore it and use VQ45 pistons, you can get it up to a VG37 IIRC. Yellow620 should chime in and correct me.

And those wheels are sick!

I do want to build a VG33 but i never considered boring it. sounds mean. My goal is to make over 175 horse. sounds do-able. I have no plans to smoke every car on the street. I just want a reliable engine that will get me to the car nights and let me do a burn out every once in awhile. if i go VG33 i am def carbing it.
