new guy with a 620

Recommended Posts

hey guys! i was lured over here by a friend of mine with a 240. i just picked up a '73 620 that needs a little work but runs like a champ. from what i can tell it has 241,000 miles on ti, leaks a little oil and needs some floor pan work. you'll understand why in the pics. i am planning on just getting it running right and maybe doing some custom stuff but not a lot. well without further hesitation heres pics.

 You did it! The #1 new member question!

hehe... there is not a bolt-on way to do the swap from factory Datsun parts. There are custom made kits that you can buy. Searching on that subject on this forum will bring some long discussions on that topic.

yeah yeah i know search... i get that on the vortex all the time. dont knwo how many times i have said it myself. now i really feel stupid

well today was productive. i replaced the rad cap so HOPEFULLY it will stop overheating, pulled the grille (which was a ROYAL PITA!) fixed the passenger side headlight low beam for now, pulled the cluster and heater controls and test fitted my 2 knobber Sony tape deck. i also found out where my fiber optic light goes for the wiper knob. so all in all i got alot accomplished. oh i also figured out why my wipers suck. the bushing that goes onto the drive pivot is missing. so they barely work. i also removed the front bumper as it was fubared. here are he 3 pics i was able to take before my camera batteries died

that it is. i THINK i figured out the heater wireing, fixed the broken dash bezel (my fault i didn't read the service manual before trying to remove it.), and found out how easy these older trucks are to steal. what fun!

i am hopeing to take this truck to the Golden Gardens meet later this month but i REALLY need to do something about how the paint looks. the sides are decent but the hood, cowl and roof are just thrashed. my buddy tom, who got me into datsunnissan said we shoud do the roof and cowl in black as well as the front valence panel but do the hood up rising sun style. but white and blue instead of white and red. what do you guys think aobut it?

well today i found the heater blower works, also the radio is in and works. The benz foglight is in on the passenger side, soon to be yellow. The dash is back together and the hazzard flashers now work as well. all thats left now is to finish the wiring on the heater fan and figure out where i am getting water inside. drivers side is dry but the passenger side is wet.

LOL!!! I dont think that is a problem since the truck hasn't moved since i brought it home. might have scared my buddy when he drove it.

but i thik the brakes are a little soft. so it will get bled shortly. also does anyone know or have a pic of how the heater wiring should be done??? i grounded it and even with the fan switch off it still ran. any ideas???

if it's the one im thinking oyur talking about, i think its the temp sensor for the gauge.....

ok and which sensor is that. there are 2 shown. and which is which??? i am still working on this thing trying to get it done for Golden Gardens. also the oil light doesn't seem to work. i REALLY need to get a oil pressure guage for this thing. i dont want to throw a rod because it lost oil pressure. i prefer autometer gauges but what do you guys suggest otherwise on a budget?
