Digital Datsun Library

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what kind of a datsun book collection everyone has?

I have about 6 manuals and 5 of them now in PDF form. I will list mine later. I am toying with an OCR program to make them searchable.

Below are the ones I have the digital and physical copies of.

Haynes Datsun Pick-up 620 Series

Petersons Complete Book Of Datsun

Popular Mechanics Motor Car Care Guide - Datsun

Chiltons Datsun Pick-Up 1970-79

Datsun Pick-up Factory Service Manual 1978 (Accidentally left this one with an auto repair shop in cali AFTER I created the pdf)

I just bought Clymer Datsun 2-Wheel Drive Pickups 1970-1983 Shop Manual but it wont get converted for a while as I lost access to the scanner I was using.

Put my list up top. I am not giving them out due to the horrendous organization of them and the requests that would come in but we will see what I can do with them. I just cant wait to be able to search.

I would like to put up the ones out of production so they are available though.

For now if you have to, put them up on mediafire. I think they have 100mb max but you can split them into different parts. Also They dont make you wait, and no DL limits. Make the folder they are in open to the public and they can see everything in the folder. You are not able to search on mediafire though.

I have a couple dozen FSMs. Have a few duplicates. Mostly early 80s duplicates (720, 210, Sentra). I can't recall all of what I have, but off the top of my head:

Factory 320 manual with plastic cover (small print size)

Factory 520 manual

Factory L13-L16-L20 engine manual

Factory '72 620 Body and Chassis Manual

620 full FSMs for 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79 (yep, the whole US market set)

I have at least one 610, 710, F10, 810, and S10 (200SX) manuals for the 70s. Can't remember the year.

1977 280Z

1978, 79, 80, and 81 HLA10 (510) manuals

1980, 81, 83 (x2) 720 manuals, and maybe another

At least one 310 (N10) manual, might be a '79 or 80. I know I have a couple '82 Sentra manuals, which I have to use for my 310 since I don't have a '82 310 manual.

'80 and 83 200SX manuals, maybe an '81.

In addition, I have various Haynes manuals- '68-73 510, 73-79 620, 78-81 510. 82+ Sentra. 70-78 Z-car.

Chiltons of all sorts- 60-72 Datsun, Datsun Truck '70-85, Datsun Cars 72-8?, Z-car, etc.

A couple Petersen and Motors manuals, including the Horowitz book. Several Clymers. Maybe more.

I also have bookshelves of non-Datsun manuals. I'd bought 4 or 5 boxes of smoke-damamged manuals from a long-gone service station. There's really obscure stuff there, like a manual for an NSU Prinz, think its the glovebox manual, and loads of those old Dictionary-sized hardbound Motors and Chiltons manuals from the 60s and 70s. A bunch of "Emissions Manuals" and pre-release, or post-release mod pages. Plus a full bookshelf of Haynes, Chiltons, Clymer, etc paperbacks, and 60s GM factory manuals. Every one has smoke damage to the edges (which makes them "undesireable" to collectors) but I tried eBaying a bunch at $2.50 for the paperbacks and I only was able to sell the Fiat 124 manuals (go figure). Of course, no many need a paperback Chiltons manual for the Chevy Vega, Chevette, or Ford Mustang II.

All this is in dead-tree format.

THIS is what I was working on today. It is only the intro for the book but damn, I have to go page by page and ensure everything was translated from the PDF image to searchable text correctly. Kinda fun to get it done but still tedious.

EDIT: Viewing in google docs does not work, but you can download a copy. I am going to do the parts document I have soon. I hate not being able to copy and paste.

The Nissan E-FAST and FAST software will help you find parts and part numbers for all Datsun/Nissan vehicles made from 1964 to 2003.

Note: (E-FAST is not a stand allow catalog, so it requires installation of the FAST catalog to open and operate)

Both systems allow you to view illustrations and create parts lists that can be printed and/or saved.

If this gets stickied, the mods have my permission to reorganize the first post as they wish.

EDIT: OH man! I have been having fun with the Fast and Efast software! Cool stuff! I can now look up parts. I am even beginning to understand it! So cool. I can't wait to go into places with part numbers to order my crap!
