ive read alot about swapping a b210 to an l series motor and with three b210s id feal pretty stupid if i didnt swap an l series into one if them. i daily drove my 76 with a 12a wankel for about two years and loved the shit ou of it but... the rotory takes alot if special kind of person to maintain at peak performance, and after rebuilding it twice and wrecking it three times on the track it was sadly laid to rest, dismantled ,and mostly givin away.

now im fealing like putting these l series parts to use. ive got struts springs both swaybars no shure if the small one is straight any more, ive got the drive line, both an auto and a 63a( the auto is about ⅜ of an inch longer than he 5speed shaft ive got the rear diff( 2 inches shorter than my current sunny axle) ive got an l18 long block thars clean with su,s but in unknown condition other than it is a timed complete motor,

i still need the cross member. im looking for a 610x member for now since gzilla recomends it for the swap but ive read about soooo many othe crossmembers working and cant find a deffinative answer.

anyone have an lseries sunny that kno  ws eggzachery what it takes

HB210 (A14 B210) uses 610 suspension and steering components, according the Service Bulletin here at my desk, and the parts catalogs.

Your B210 auto driveshaft is the one to use with the L-series shorty 4-speed or 5-speed.

But the really important question is: how you gonna paint the 180Z?

Because you don't need to cut up or modify the 610 crossmember. Sure, you can cut and weld the B210 crossmember.

i was just repeating others coments , it was making me twitch, there are alot of cut up 610 crossmember pics on the web.

sooo to all those that would like to put an lseries into there b210

the 610 crossmember DOES NOT fit its wider ans when put into place and clamped i couldnt get the sway bar anywhere close to where it was sopposed to go

i put my modified 12a crossmember in and made the choice to make another rotary b210, i had so much fun with my last one and the 12a i have tore down on my bench was ported by atkins and looks to be a well worked over big port motor,

i was only home for a couple hours waiting for some saftey equipment and had ben wanting to bolt the 610 crossmember in since i left town 2 weeks ago so im kinda bumbed but i did get most of the coil overs done and made a templete for my camber caster plates and got an idea of how hard its going to be to flip the stearing to the front to get the rotary further back and alittle lower

im running 220lb front springs and set the sleeves so that the tallest setting is sitting at stock heigth and i can go 6 inches lower

i modified the standerd b210 struts so i can run the only wide rimes i have wich are 13x8 or my ironcrosses but both have shitty tires and its ben hard to find cheap rubber to get it set down on the ground but its getting closer

there is a extra set of holes but it puts the xmember too far forward for my tie rods ,

and the holes almost lighn up id have to egg the xmembers holes out 1/4 inch inward on both sides, the lca bolts are further out the same 1/4 inch on eather side not a big deal and would be an easy swap but ive got all the parts to complete a rotary swap and can sell this 120 dallor xmember back to the guy i got it from, that and like i said before i dont know how well the l18 runs and never got the shorty trans i was looking for , but i have all the 12a parts id need exept one rear water seal and one rear dowel pin seal i used on another motor.

so basicly i copped out

and i realy realy miss my 76 rotary b210 it was the fastest quickest most well balanced car ive ever driven and i want to build another one ,

so ive got some chumpy excuses and im going to blaim my indecision on the fact that the 610 members not a drop in, however i did read a member here used a late model 510 crossmember lca and tie rods for a derect swap, i cant contest that but i would ad that ive always heard a 610 xmember was exactly the same width and the lca where longer but that the mounting points where different but thats alittle right and alittle wrong

Go with the Rotary swap. There is too few street rotaries in Datsuns. Start a build thread starting with the crossmember!

yeah of course , cross member is prety lackluster im afraid just delete the mounts the roto mount go to the fram rails , ill give a step by step when i get back to town

my other concerne with the 610 member was that if i used the extra holes (one hole is there the other needs drilled ) and modified the tierods i dont think the steering would clear but i couldnt say for shure couse i left it loose and hanging

and i only had 3 hours before i headed out on the road again , just did some laundry and poked around on the datto and off i went...... im not home sick but i am datto sick

it looked as if there was enoughf room for the 510 oil pan( i think it was a five ten pan) i think that the late model napz 510 pan( middish sump) would work with the stock b210 x member but i havent seen one around to take measurements from. my 84 auto wagon would have ben i great donor i think, as rusty as it was, but i had to make a choice between it and my last rotary sunny becouse a former girlfreind was on both titles and she needed to let me know she was keeping one of them. so i kept the 210 and neither one of us got the 510, i left it at the local firiring range for a few weeks she got the tow bill.

i like the rotory idea more, but still wanted to see the L go in... im not at all surprised that you had trouble with the 610 crossmember as the b210 is so narrow. maybe the swap was somehow mixed up with the 1200 or the 210 since they are alittle wider.

i wonder.. a lseries b310 would be awsome
