the510keeper
SEMS color coral 07064 We got the new guy blastin, blastin the shit outta stuff. Here is what we started with. Someone had already blasted and painted this engine bay but things just needed a little more clean up Finish off holes we will not need Blocking out fenders and trying to fix someone else's fuck up. "Hey George bondo over the holes so once it is painted, the bondo will pop back out" Not to say we are the best but WTF We popped the filler through the holes and welded them from the inside of the fender. Less to grind later. Stay tune next week for more color, yes this beast will see way more paint and fast. We have new arrives coming asap. Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
I forgot we got the 1/4er windows torn apart and sandblasted, ready for paint. Also, because the doors had so many layers of paint we blasted them as well. Once blasted parts get lightly sanded and sealed in epoxy primer. Then painted, cut hand sanding time by 50%. the510keeper
Here we go, go now After blasting the driver door we found the latch area was jacked up so we fixed it So we cut a section out of a 4 door front door Engine bay is primed and resanded, now it is ready for a sealer and paint. Figured we seal the door jambs at the same time. Shot some hot rod black on the core support Painted, also painted the hinges and inner 1/4er panel area 1 Quote Link to comment

the510keeper
Still making progress. Was hoping to have this one done for the swap meet on the 17th in Sac, but figured we would give her more time. Sanding and priming panels. The driver fender was gunk so we tossed it and found another one to strip and make pretty. Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
While getting ready to final prime the complete body I decide to roll the rear fender lips. And what comes next will suck ass FUCK!!!!! Lucky we had some extra panels laying around Almost done but behind Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
What happened?! was it hidden rust? nice that you have the tools and skill to fix it so fast. what kind of welder do you use for sheet metal like this? MIG? Quote Link to comment
bigchowder
Thank goodness I have the best in the biz working on my car! Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
From hammering the wheel well aggressively to roll the lip, I started to see a crack. Took out my niffy grinder, and there it was the lost treasure. If I had the car to do over I would have stripped the car to bare metal and then got started with body work and rust repair. I still have to roll the lip on the other wheel well, wish me luck. The welder I use is a Lincoln 220v mig, it's not a big unit but welds sheet metal very well Quote Link to comment
Jester
Yep, there it is. Quote Link to comment
bigchowder
Actually, Jester, someone did bodywork in between.. obviously shitty bodywork, but the rust was hidden. Quote Link to comment

the510keeper
Here I go again on my own Maken things pretty Had to toss the pile o shit fender we had been working on, and here is the start of the next one Rolled the fender lip, and popped the filler on the rocker molding holes. At the beginning of this project we were not painting the engine bay. New plans have evolved, and the engine bay needed painted. Since we were painting the engine bay we decided to sand blast all the jambs while sand blasting the engine bay. At same time blast the drip rails. I love blasting drip rails (there a bitch to sand well). Once blasted, we seam sealed and primed it complete. Quote Link to comment
