This Is A Simple How To LED Your 620 Truck (Because You And I Both Know You Can't See Your Gauges At Night To Save Your Life) :rofl:DSC03667.jpg

^^ Simple Thing I Made That Shows Where The Bulbs Are

*Please Note*

It Is Best To REMOVE The Whole Gauge Bezel W/ Gauge Cluster To Do This

This Is On A 78 Non KC With AC, I Know There Are Variations But The Gauges Should Have The Same Lights

1 - The Tach... - A Little Tricky :hmm:

Bulbs - BA9s

Make Sure - You Get The 180 Degree Viewing Angle And 12V DIRECT CURRENT , Then Choose 2 Of Your Desired Colour

Installation - You Will Need To Remove Everything Off The Back To Open It And Remove The Lens Because The LEDs WILL NOT FIT

Now Put The Tach Back Together And Install LEDs

Now You Might Be Thinking To Yourself... "Why The Hell Do I Need To Get These Tiny Ass Bulbs When They Have Some That Fit Right In"

If You Want To Get The Different Bulbs, Go Right Ahead.

I Did The Math And The Other Bulbs Will Illuminate About Twice As Much As Your Other Gauges.

With These All 3 Of Your Gauges Will Be The Same (In Brightness)

*Also* - These Bulbs Are Polarized, If They Do Not Turn On Simply Flip Them Around.

Thank You Zeusimo!

I just finished this upgrade and... Really... these are much brighter than stock. I went green. Though similar to original, the green is a different color than stock, if that is important. Also, the dash light dimmer works with the LEDs just fine.

Observations (using Zeusimo's numbers)

1) After removing the screws and nuts off the back, support the tach and don't let it fall on the floor. With the guts out, you can then access the green plastic bulb covers.

3 & 4) After the clear gauge cluster cover has been removed (it's held on with clips), the black bezel over the idiot lights & gauges lifts out. You then can remove the green plastic bulb cover in the middle. Also, with the bezel out, you can then access the green plastic bulb covers behind the Spedo.

After installation of the bulbs into the Spedo cluster, I'd recommend that you plug the assembly back in and test. It will be easy to make any adjustments necessary before final installation.

And the tiny ass mini bulbs used do illuminate evenly.

Well this is fucked, I just ordered all the lights following the links and I got sent bayonet base bulbs not wedged ones. Your links are wrong and now I have a bunch of lights I can use. Its a good thing they're cheap or I'd be more upset.

Fix the links to the proper bulbs.

Correction, the red Dummy lights and the blue High/Pass bulb are wrong. I have those in bayonets not wedge ones. Other then that everything else was fine and works. I went green with everything and am happy with the choice. Ill post a photo tomorrow.

Are the wedge base the same as the miniature base? It's confusing when the links are different

Wedge base appears to be a narrow blade, typical of a 194 type bulb. These push in to lock

Miniature appears to be a small metal cylinder with nubs on it, typical of a 53 type bulb. These push down and turn slightly to lock.

Hopefully that helps.
