They are great little around town trucks, hauling loads is no big deal every once in a while. Not so good driving fast on the freeway, or daily heavy loads or towing. wayno

wow that has j13 in it? mine with l16 hauls all kinds of stuff :)

It wasn't an impressive load. The root ball was huge and wet and very heavy, but not near the total payload of my 520. It's just fun to actually use the truck like a truck. And my brother in law was so skeptical I just had to take pictures.

My 521 was stiff and only felt right when I had about 700 lb it. I did carry 1,700 in it once but not recommended. The 520 is rated at one tonne or metric ton (2,205 lbs.

Yeah, it did smooth out the bumps a bit to have a little load. The big hills between me and the nursery unfortunately required 2 gear to climb.

Yeah, the J doesn't have much beans but you can rev the snot out of them all day. The rear end is 4.889 so rev it and don't worry.

The rear end WAS a 4.88. Now it is a 4.375. Now I can do 60 mph and still keep the fillings in my teeth.

Last summer I hauled about 1000 pounds of sand in 2 big rubbermaid tubs about 6 miles in my 521. She did just fine. Just gotta plan way ahead when you want to stop :lol:

 

 

 

 

 

Hauled a 1200 pound 13spd transmission in my 4x4 720 250 miles, years ago. Did 55mph all the way up a 3 mile long 6% grade with a L20!!
