IMO I really don't think it was a good idea. Car was beautiful before the chop.

Back in the 80's we did that to a 4 door dime and drove it all summer, it was great.

 

However, we also welded sub-frame connectors underneath to keep it from folding up and we capped and finished everything off and painted it, so it look really nice. We even made a fake top cover, and padded it with foam, so it looked like it really had a folded down top under it.

Boners. Serve them right if they hit something and tachoed it. Garden hose was a nice touch. I would have cut a section out of the roof and left the rear window in.

Did you look closely at the side shot? That car looked reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally rusty. Rear arches on both sides look completely gone.

 

Not saying it was a smart idea, just that this probably wasn't the worst possible donor... ;)

@ datsunreak - I guess it was just heartbreaking to watch. Maybe they poked fun at putting a car out of it's misery before sending it to the yards but *sigh*. I would have gladly rocked the rust like a champ with the top till the wheels fall off.

And one thing Ive learned in life is this. No matter what kind of car it is, be it a Datsun B210, a Kia Sephia, or an AMC Pacer, there's somebody out there who loves it and somebody out there who hates it.

 

No car deserves this, but it probably would've hit the scrapper soon anyway... :huh:

I agree, that was a rusty pile. Could have been a whole lot worse with another car.

 

That being said the situation seen on the video is very similair to what happened with my 73 620.

 

 

I had a few beers and I was bored. Got to thinking about the fact that I don't really fit in a standard cab 620. So, I called a friend, had some more beers and fired up the Sawzall. INSTANT ROADSTER :D
