boxboy
I got the J13 back together and started her up. I have regasketed the easy to get to gaskets. Most everything on the top end accept for the head gasket. I adjusted the valves too while I was in there. It has been a month long project or more, just working late after the kids get to bed. Everything looked to be holding accept for the fuel pump gaskets. Oil seems to be coming out pretty fast there. I can see it forming a drop at the bottom of the spacer and then running down. My question is, how tight can I tighten those nuts on the pump without breaking or damaging the spacer? Or, am I screwed now that it is already leaking? I am 99% sure it isn't gas because it is thick and slick. If I need to do it again it will be a pain because I'll have to go at it from the bottom now that I have the top all back together. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment
68Datsun510
Bumping for great justice! Has to be oil, gas would gush out. ANd your oil would smell wrong. Did you use any RTV? Quote Link to comment
boxboy
I got it taken care of. Turned out that the fuel pump casting was dog eared in so that it didn't sit tight against the block. I filed them down and used some RTV and now I am dry and happy about it. Thanks for the bump. Quote Link to comment
