Guest Rick-rat Posted February 12, 2011 Report Share Posted February 12, 2011 I have disc brakes on the rear of my 620 and ruined 1 rotor and caliper, got new rotors an calipers and was still having problems with the rears dragging and heating up. I have the Isuzu trooper set up with Beebani brackets. I bought fully loaded calipers, when putting them on the brackets I had a very hard time getting the bottom bolt in from the mount to the brake frame, could get it by leaving the top bolt in very loosely and starting the bottom bolt and then tightening it up. This morning when I was trying to figure out why the brakes were dragging and when putting the brake back on I was fighting the bottom bolt again. Seems that the lower ear of the caliper was hitting the bracket and not allowing the hole to line up. Took a grinder to the bracket and removed just a little from the bracket so the bottom bolt would go in easily. The bottom ear of the caliper was touching the bracket and putting a slight bind in the brakes and was causing my problems, works great now, no dragging or heating up 1 Quote Link to comment

I am not trying to say that these are bad,just what I neede to do for mine to work and was just posting this in case someone else ran into this problem. Jinxed Posted March 13, 2011 Report Share Posted March 13, 2011 Finally solve the issue of the hand brake...got it done today. I used an 1989 Isuzu Trooper 2 door parking brake, got it from the local Pick-A-Part yard including the intermediate cable. Stop by at the Local Lowes and get you 2 pack of 1/8" of Ferrules and Stop, it's only $1.48 ea. First you need to remove the old parking brake cable and don't throw it away, you will need it to attached with cable from the Isuzu. Next bend the cable bracket that is attach to the caliper, enough so once the cable is installed it will not rub against the caliper bracket. Then install both parking brake cable from the Isuzu, it should mount right in just like it belong there, route it through the same way the old parking brake you just taken out, it fits like a glove. Now here is the hard part; measure how long of a cable it would take to connect the left side parking brake cable to the cable coming out from the equalizing braket. Using the old parking brake cable from the left side with the box connector cut off about 7 1/2 inches approximately, leave box connector on. Now take one of the box connector from the intermediate cable you got from the pick-a-part yard, insert the end of the cale you just cut from the left side parking brake through the 1/8" hole on one end of it, throught the side, fit one of the stop, that you got from Lowes on the end, then crimp it with a Swagging tool if you have one. Or use a Crimping Tool. (I used a Swagging Tool from Lowes, I bought it, and the return the tool after I was done with it.) Now the cable should just slide in place. Now do the same thing on the right side, measure how much you would need to attach the right side, now this side is with the adjusting nut. For my truck I measured 16 1/2 inches with the threaded piece. Take the other box connector from the intermediate cable, insert the cable end that that you just cut from the old parking brake, through the side, fit one of the stop that you got from Lowes, them crimp it. Once that is done fit it on the right hand side, through the adjusting bracket, srew in the adjusting nut to a snug fit, back it off a full turn and there you go. Get in to your truck and see if it works. Just a note crimping the stop on the cable is very importand becuase it can easily come off. One thing I still need to do is make a bracket to mount the cable to the caliper bracket as keeper. Quote Link to comment

hosestop@msn.com Posted May 15, 2015 Report Share Posted May 15, 2015 I am making a couple kits only here in So Cal using 240sx rear calipers and made a set work on a 620 with park brake option ,go to off topics Alleycatgarage to view install on 521 or classifieds now ,same brackets different cables . Again was just making two sets of brackets ,but my water jet guy said make ten pieces for a slight price break , so maybe I will have three sets available soon , and they work . 2 Quote Link to comment
