VRTSid
Hey guys, I was driving and my charge light came on. My volt meter was right so I thought something had just jiggled loose. I was looking at my alt and the little 2 wire plug in the back, one of the wires has broken, right at the connector. Well long story short, right now my meter says 12 in the on position, 14 at idle and running. Is there anywhere I can get that little connector? like a pigtail or something? I don't even know what it is yet :) I saw it this morning, then came straight to work. Quote Link to comment
jovial_cynic
If you're getting 14 volts at idle, that means your alternator is functioning properly. The wire that popped out is just the warning light for your alternator, to let you know when your alternator is failing. I'll dig around and see if I can find a spare connector. Worst case, you could try to yank the terminal out of the plug and replace it with a flat female terminal. Those are cheap. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
get some tweezers /dental pick and push in there youll see a clip/retainer or some thing that holds it in. Push it and the pin will come out then maybe resolder the wire back on the pin ,push pin back in connector untill it locks back in. datsun connectors are ez to remove the pins!!!!! VRTSid
cool beans guy thanks. I'll try to hit that this weekend. I was thinking about the female ends but I havent even taken a good look at what thats connecting to yet. if they are blades I should at least have the female ends in my toolbox. hang_510
use the insulated type if going w/o the connector, or at least wrap elec tape around the ends. grab 1 (or 2) from the JY next time. Quote Link to comment
