RedSquare
Hello all. My Names Greg and I started this thread to follow the progress of my 86 720. When groing up, my dad had a 83 720 and had it shipped overseas to be used by our family in our homeland. Long story short, I've always admired them and thought they were very handsome trucks (Mitsu Mighty Max and Isuzu P'up included). My love affair grew even more when I saw the drifting 720 on Speedhunters.com com and followed by the I bought a house and figured every home should have a truck so, I naturally looked for a 720 and found a nice example with 87k miles on the chassis and 300miles away on craigslist. My brother and I drove 600 miles round trip to snag this pickup from North Carolina (sellers pics) First pics since getting home It's been a swell truck for the months I've been driving it despite a few leaks from the owner failing to tighten the fuel and coolant lines after replacing the engine due to oil starvation from a filter that was too short. Now that I'm settled in now, the mod bug has bitten me again, so I started by getting rid of the rear bumper and going Junkyard diving to find the correct bracket to mount it to the rear valance. No bumper... It's forsale on CL if anyone nearby wants it. LINK That's it for now as I wait for parts to come:cool: Quote Link to comment

7204wd
Damn that thing is clean, wish mine was that nice. It looks great and cant wait to see more progress, what are your plans with it? Quote Link to comment
RedSquare
Thanks all. Phase 1: 1. Lower it 3" in back and 2" up front (parts are here) 2. Change all shocks (in mail) 3. New wheels. 15x8 Chevy Blazer rally wheels (in garage). Plan to paint (powdercoat$?$?) gunmetal. 4. Front sway bar 5. New exhaust Phase 2: 1. Tear it down and do paint and body with new trim pieces, front valance and badges (same color). 2. Put on my 6-lug Regamaster wannabees after I get them powder coated satin bronze or black (in garage). Overall, I just want to keep it relatively stock and OEM despite the drop and new wheels. Like my s13. Quote Link to comment
7204wd
Make sure to post pics as progress happens! I'd like to do up a standard cab 2wd 720 or even 620 one day, and I envy your project! Quote Link to comment
RedSquare
Yesterday I... *Changed front sway bar bushings *Lowered the front and installed MonoMax struts up front *Installed 3" blocks and attempted to install MonoMax struts in the rear *Test fit my wheels Hellaflush yet?<_< Unable to install rear MonoMax shocks due to an incorrect bottom mount. despite it being listed as such (KYB's fault). I need to return these. These have a 5/8" ID rubber bushing while my truck accepts standard 3/8" / 10mm OD stem (bayonet) mount. Front MonoMax pic taken with old rears because I thought the were for the rear:P Rear MonoMax and part number to avoid if you plan on putting on a 720 Finished product still sitting on shitty Gabriel Ryder LT struts in the rear<_< Quote Link to comment

RedSquare
Thanks all look very sexy this 720 but i prefer a bigger rims like 17s, 18s look better. but there´s my ideas, but you are the owner dude... so that 720 it´s gorgeus  I do agree and plan on some 17's or 18's, but I also get off on good tire meat, hence my 15" wheels. Definitely planning some performance oriented tire fitment on them. . I'm currently working on a proper aluminum wheels restoration, using aircraft grade etchers and primers for my next update. RedSquare
I'm still working on the truck. About a week ago, I found some 15x7 Enkei wheels at the local junkyard, and got the set with throw away tires for $107. I'm glad I got a decent prize, because I worked my arse off getting the lug locks off. The Next day I took them to Firestone to get the wheels removed for $15 even and now, they're at the powdercoater a county over since our local coater wouldn't include free media blasting. I chose satin texture black. It's a real subtle texture and not off-road looking. For those who haven't seen the Enkei wheels in question, there in this thread. Truck at the local gas station with spare tire on. Here's a link to my other wheels getting the refurb treatment... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/28731-redsquare-jdm-wheel-refurb/ Quote Link to comment
RedSquare
Got my Enkei wheels and lower profile tires on yesterday. I also got an alignment. My wheels that I pulled from a 4runner and had powder coated locally. Enkei's optional Toyota truck wheels are an awesome choice for the modern minitrucker. sport trucker. 1 Quote Link to comment

RedSquare
The bumper is the only thing for sale. http://savannah.crai...2212723054.html I've no plans to sell my truck. Quote Link to comment
RedSquare
Not much of an update, but I had been having problems with my check battery light turning on, and increasing in brightness the faster I drove, so I took a trip to get it diagnosed. Turns out that I blew the alternators voltage regulator when I jumped my track cars battery using my truck. I also found the true source to a knocking sound I've been hearing... The front-bottom alternator mount was broken and the rear bolt hole had no bolt in it at all:angry: I guess the guy I bought this truck from, half assed the engine swap. So far, these are the things that were wrong in the engine bay... * Coolant hose loose at the block and rad. * Fuel lines were leaking and loose enough to remove with bare hands. * Missing alternator bolt, that probably caused one of the mounts to break. Live and learn. Quote Link to comment
RedSquare
I'm getting the mod bug again, since me and the gf "need time", so I figured I'd bump my old thread... Since i last updated this space, I installed my YAJ wheels with extended nuts... ...someone stole one of my NISSAN fender emblems... ...I removed the tonneau cover because I couldn't fit my bike in the back... ... I've blown a head gasket...and the truck has been sitting ever since because I'm preparing a Ka24de to swap in. Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
Nice truck, I like those wheels. Quote Link to comment

izzo
Need time? Shit either works or it doesn't. If you need time now it probably won't work. You gotta work thru shit, even when its ruff. Taking a break is the same thing as quitting, even only if temporary. Good luck to that BS. 1 Quote Link to comment
Nissan_Boy85
Good luck with all that. Let me know if you ever wanna get rid of that tonneau. 1 Quote Link to comment

RedSquare
Thanks for compliments. Need time? Shit either works or it doesn't. If you need time now it probably won't work. You gotta work thru shit, even when its ruff. Taking a break is the same thing as quitting, even only if temporary. Good luck to that BS. LOL what? I need time because I have 2 other Nissan projects consuming my time and money. At Least now, the time I was wasting on my gf can be put back into my truck. That surplus of time allowed me to pickup a 5-lug conversion this past Saturday. What happened to those old powder coated enkeis? Shoot me a PM, I'd be interested in making a deal with you. They're on my daily/parts hauler (D21). I'll have a hopefully worthy update next weekend. 1 Quote Link to comment
