no just a brand new tank....don't see a sending unit in the pic...only 180 bucks so i would say no SU

 

Not sure on the availability of a new one.....?

Might have to use your old SU.....?

 

Sending units.....83+ KC on left.

 

 

The wires that measure the resistance,... SU on the right.....most likely had better days.

Most likely scenario.... has only 1, or less ,..lens broke in the whole assembly.

Think there are 3 or 4 tabs...?........bend them back....then rotate the unit and pull it out.

that is what i thought...didn't want to FUBAR it though.....anyone had any experience using a universal sending unit? While i was searching for a tank today JCwhitney.com has a universal sending unit

Most likely have to use a flat screwdriver and hammer to bend the tabs up....and then to rotate (break loose) the SU

I measured my old tank and got the dimensions and they match the dimensions of one i found on an autoparts house's website for an 83.....will it fit?

It should.....but it's aftermarket....correct?

Roll the dice....only issue I can 'see' would be the mounting holes not lining up correctly

I believe the nuts are welded to the tank....would just have to elongate the other holes.

Can't see it being a big issue.

Best case scenario.....that is :D

...............the left one looks like some sap dripped on it and turned to 'amber' :)

...............the right looks like it might of got a little warm....or maybe just a rare factory anomaly.... ;)

 

The 2 lenses in middle look good.

The 2 lenses in the background.....1 on left has a slight dip in it where the pencil is pointing

 

All intact...no cracks or breaks.....will look better once they are cleaned up..... and the over spray removed.

Remember.... they are nearly 30 years old....so....there are surface scratches.

I have a spare Z24 dipstick.

The Z22 dipstick is about 1/4 inch shorter than the Z24.

Although....The full or H marks on the dipsticks are about 3/8 inch apart.

The Z24 should work....but the H mark would be where the pen is pointing....or the kink in the 'stick'

Any advice on getting the factory radio out of the dash?....feels loose and can be moved side to side and pushed back...just won't come out

There's a screw above the ashtray, underneath the radio, that might be holding it in...?????..

I looked there and don't remember seeing anything....After talking to my mom...she said my dad installed the radio...so there is no telling!!!! haha....And well my dad passed away when i was two....so gonna be hard to ask him!!!!

I got it out....anyone installed a modern CD player in these....the wires on the harness for my cd player do not match colors with the harness in the truck?
