650savag Posted January 23, 2008 Report Share Posted January 23, 2008 The 5 speed in my 80 KC, L20B, started jumping out of 5th gear about 2 yrs. ago. It will usually jump into neutral when you let up on the gas. I have been using 4th gear as the highest gear since it started and haven't noticed much difference in fuel effiecency. From looking at the ratios, it looks like mine has a 5th gear that is not much higher than the 4th gear. Does anyone have any info on what could be causing this problem and is it an expensive fix? Will it damage the transmission any further to keep driving it without using the 5th gear? All advice would be geatly appreciated. Thanks, Dan Quote Link to comment
