The engine to transmission bolts have a M10 x 1.5 thread. The length depends on your transmission. There is usually two locater pins, one solid one between the two close bolts at the top, and a hollow one on the drivers side, that a bolt goes through. The bolt that goes through the hollow locator needs to be a little longer to have enough threads holding it in.

If you can, chase the threads in the engine block before you put it back together. if you can turn the bolt with your fingers, untill it is tight, it is a lot easier than having to wrench it the entire length when the engine is in the truck. It can get tight between the bellhousing and the cab of the truck.

I have had in my garage three L-16 engines, one JDM L-18, and an L-20-b. The L-20-b is gone, so I cannot go out and recheck it, but the other four engines all have the M10x1.5 thread for the engine to transmission bolts.

I have had to chase the thread holes on block that have sat for a while, to clean the rust out of them.

You could go to a salvage yard and get some engine to transmission bolts from a car or truck sitting there.

There is a possibility that somebody retapped the holes in your block to a different thread.
