66 520 Carb help new pic

Is there a carb that can replace the carbs on the 66 520 J13 mtr or one that can be adapted thanks

i dont know much about j or a series engines but if they came with a hitachi that had the same style of carb base on them i woudl assume you coul adapt a weber using a conversion kit, you would have to adjust the jetting for the smaller displacement of course

Are you looking for a performance upgrade? The Nikki carb on the 1966 is a good carb as long as it is in operable condition. You may consider a rebuild if the carb is leaking.

Not a performance upgrade the carb that is on it I think the former owner screwd around with it and it has a hesitation coming off of idle that I cant seam to get out of it

You can replace it with a Weber with an adapter.

your stock carb just needs a larger idle jet..... you make it sound like its running lean just off idle, that would meanthat when your throttle plate opens and uncovers the progressive circuit, there is not enough fuel flowing out of it.... either that or your accel pump is messed up.

is there an online diagram of the carb or which one is the idle jet the accelerator pump is working good as it squirts gas in the carb thanks

Thanks guys got it fixed the little steel ball was stuck in the accel pump from our wonderful gas we get now I'm sure I'll have more questions later thanks
