I can across this in one of my folders. I like this because it shows the different numbers for the different years. The first 3 spacers in the last half of a part number designates what model it fits example 23402-25500 is shown to fit the 1967 SRL Datsun Roadster.

You need the first 5 digits of the part number, and courtesy of "DAT-MAN" in the UK, he posted this a while ago...

All Datsun part no.s are 10 Digits. example 21400 U7400

There is a space in the middle, to aid reading and to separate the two halves. The FIRST five digits tell you WHERE abouts on the car the part is from, and what it is, and whether it’s left or right etc. The SECOND half of the number is basically WHAT CAR the part fits.

Where the part fits more than one model, the first model (oldest) that the part was designed for is indicated.

The first two digits give you a rough idea where the part fits. This is useful for something like a bearing where it could be from a gearbox, a diff, a hub, a strut top, or even steering.

The next three digits give you the full detail of what part it is. For instance 21501 is a top radiator hose. I’m afraid I can’t be asked to list all 100,000 part descriptions!

This is a rough guide to the FIRST TWO DIGITS in the part number (example 21)

I think this info would be great if you came across some old nos parts at a garage sale or dealer and needed to know what vehicle it fits. There are a lot of other sources for parts # (datsun1200.com) has more detailed info for sure. I just like the way this one is set out, nice and easy to understand.

Drop the w and it is a patrol (Looks more like a patrol ) found some braided upper rad. hoses.

Drop the W and the part number becomes unusable. Patrol front right lamps were round. Not following how this A10 lens has any connection to the Patrol.
