Door panels.

I took off the interior of the doors of my '77 B210 coupe. The vinyl was coming off and was hanging. Looked tacky. I tried using rubber cement, but it does not want to stick to the vinyl. Does anyone had suggestions on a adhesive that works well? I'd like to get those stretched tight again.

Home Depot sell a 50 year door/window adhesive caulk that's awesome. I've used it to repair the rubber moulding around my door and windows and seal out noise. It takes about 24 hours to dry. Be careful it can get everywhere. It's very sticky. It comes in white and brown. You can also paint it. :P :D

I will have to go check it out. There are a couple autozones around here. I wonder if they carry after market door panel clips. I broke 5 or 6 of them trying to that panel off. I remember buying some.... at one point but can't remember if they came from the dealer or Al's or Shucks. Back in the day anyway.

You local auto parts store probably carries a 3M spray can of adhesive made for that purpose. I believe there are two different strengths available.

Be sure the glue surface of the vinyl is clean and the substrate is clean also. I found that Xylol (one type of paint thinner) works pretty well to remove the old dead glue. 3M also makes an adhesive remover that does an even better job.

I just redid my dash in vinyl. The upholstery shop I got my materials from recommended headliner spray adhesive. He had the 3M spray adhesive but said this stuff is WAY better. I'll tell you this, once its stuck, its stuck. If you make a mistake you have a couple minutes to fix it, or you'll be taking it off in pieces. I'd call it semi-permanent.

In the past I had less than stellar results with the 3M spray adhesive. It peels to easily.

definatly go with the 3M spray adhesive. I used to do custom vinyl stereo panels and that's all we used at the shop i worked at. The stuff is amazing. Most hardware stores and some auto parts stores will carry it. You just have to make sure to spray it on BOTH pieces you want to bond (ie: the back of the apholstry and the bare door panel)

Which stuff is better?

The product is called "Strong Bond", its made by Rex Pegg. Its at LEAST 10 times better than the 3m stuff, this stuff is not intended for hobbyists like the 3M stuff is.

Earlier this year I came across a show car that was only a year old, it had all suede interior which was installed using the 3M stuff. (I know this because I met the builder) A lot of the suede was peeling up and bubbling, it needed to be redone, and it was VERY bad in the high wear areas, such as the arm rests. This wasnt even a daily driver.

SO GET THIS!
