Amen Bleach, I talked to a guy yesterday from salem who was parting out a '78 long bed; this dush bag tells me that the motor is gone but everything else is there. So I ask him, how much you want for the bed (after he tells me about some rust spots and dents) I just wanted it for some repair panels. He says $100.............I say $50...........he says come on, $50? We haggle a little bit, he tells me how "rare" 620's are and grumbles about the price but agrees if I come remove the bed myself. After all this, he tells me that the truck is going to get scrapped in a few days and I better hurry! Are you fucking kidding me? You're gonna scrap it in a few days, but that bed is worth $100? Some people, rather scrap the truck than give it away! Link to comment
datsunaholic Posted March 14, 2007 Report Share Posted March 14, 2007 Problem is it's easier to scrap it than it is to give it away. At least the hulk hauler shows up. I've been trying to give away that orange '77 KC for parts, but no one will take it, and unlike half the stuff out there it DOES have a title. OK, so it doesn't have an engine but if that's a HUGE problem I've got lots of scrap L-series I could throw in. I've had folks ask for parts... I've usually quoted $100. Doesn't matter what part... or the whole thing for free. I want it GONE, but it'll go to the wrecker as soon as I clear a path. If someone was willing to haul it I'd have a path cleared in a couple hours. Only way I've gotten rid of anything is to trade cars straight across, which isn't helping the number reduction issue. This guy didn't have a title for the truck he was parting. The thing that bums me out the most though is that the truck probably didn't need that much work to be a runner. If we all made these things runners and kept them running we could overpopulate the world with dattos and maybe nissan would start making parts again?!
