Fast720
Update solved the hood problem !!!! It's a little Mad Max ish , still not sure if I like it ....... I will build another open hood for the summer time I wont know if the open hood I have will still work until I get the fenders and hood all lined up properly , I still have the front cross member to build , I need all the body parts in there proper place before I can make it with the forward cab mounts. So here is a bump on a scoop ............. Bead rolled a new piece of 22 gauge satin sheet metal 3 Quote Link to comment
DatMo
That's still awesome imo but the blower sticking out is more aggressive 2 Quote Link to comment
Fast720
That's still awesome imo but the blower sticking out is more aggressive Hey DatMo yes I agree with you I like it sticking out of the hood also ,and with the paint scheme it will be awesome. But this truck is going to be used all year round , and here in the winter it rains frigin sideways !!!!!!! , so I will have two hoods one open for spring to fall and this one with two scoops . 3 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
so I will have two hoods one open for spring to fall and this one with two scoops . Forget what I said. This is the best plan. ^_^ 3 Quote Link to comment

Fast720
Update Worked on getting the front end straightened up today , had to cut the inner fenders , they were tweaked and wouldn't let the nose stay in the right place , weled the rad support back in and got it as square as I could , still need to drill some new holes in the fenders to hold it .but I can move onto the cab mounts in the front and the bumper receiver , then onto the body drop on the box and the four link !!!!! Looking forward to that . This is way better than it was , there is still room for adjusting , I need to re drill some of the fender holes on the passenger side 7 Quote Link to comment

Fast720
Update Bumper mounts Captive nuts ( welded from the other side ) On to the box chop & drop ( this was not fun ) Got the box standing plum and used the laser level to mark my lines to cut , works very well for this type of thing Welded a bar across the top to hold it square Well I hope I did this right !!!! it looks like it should work out , I have to make some panels for the bed to weld up to . 5 Quote Link to comment
wayno
How did you cut it? 1 Quote Link to comment
Fast720
Hey Wayno I cut the lower ribs first with a Sawzall and then cut the rest with a Zip cut disc , I left some tabs until the end so it would hold it up and not bind , it took longer to lay out than to cut , hop to get back on it today 2 Quote Link to comment
Fast720
Update Still working on the box , been slow , other things getting in the way . Hope to have the floor tacked back in tonight or tomorrow .......but there is a lot of prep , like removing the frigin undercoating and paint in the weld areas. 3 Quote Link to comment
dukerollo
Good work, and not for the faint hearted, that is a lot of real estate to weld without it twisting like a pretzel. You know how to get shit done. Quote Link to comment

You know how to get shit done. Thanks..................I know its a huge undertaking to body drop anything , I sure didn't want to , I didn't want to shorten the box in the first place either . Fast720
Update Getting the box buttoned up slowly , still have to make the little piece that goes at the back of the bed . Got it all tacked up and straight ,the side rails were bowed out in the middle about 3/16ths of an inch after welding the side panels in. Had to strap it all in the right place and pull it evenly , was fun getting it to all line up before taking. Here you can see how straight it came out Here is how it looks from the bottom It turned out not too bad , still some welding to do and the little part at the back by the tailgate. 8 Quote Link to comment

dukerollo
Are you hammer forming the recesses in the panels, or is it strictly bead roller work? Either way, super nice job. 3 Quote Link to comment
