smelt240
OK,Im back for a bit,if it wasnt raining,Id have a few update pics. Car is primed out, except the roof, and ive been driving the wheels off it again. My cars wiring is greasy and dirty, and wont really clean up very well,so the colors are hard to see.Im trying to hook up an old autometer tach that my buddy had. Does it simply hook to the negative terminal on the coil,or is there a tach wire/terminal somewhere from the distributor in there that Im not finding? Next question. Has anyone seen any velocity stacks made for the Hitachi carbs? My aluminum air cleaner setup was a complete failure, not in function,it just DID NOT fit the cars look.So Im looking to find some stacks. Ill throw some recent pics up when the weather breaks later today. the car is getting a brandy new wiring harness/relay center very soon. No headlights the other night, until I taped the relay down. Thanks for any help. Quote Link to comment

smelt240
Ok,what i was looking for is the polished style, like I have on my Dellorto's in the 510...I might have another trick up my sleeve though. I this one fails, its off to find an original air filter. Quote Link to comment
jefe de jefes
Have you tried rubbing hand cleaner on the wiring? I have read a few peeps doing this. Haven't tried it myself but it's worth a shot. Quote Link to comment
smelt240
Funny you would mention that. I have been using it up til the other day,but have found that Incredible Pink cleaner, diluted 50/50 with plain water seems to work the best. The hand cleaner leaves the grittys all over everything, but it does work well. If you havent tried the incredible pink,I highly recommend that you do. I used it on my motor, and with a little toothbrush work, the head is spotless, after all these years. It seems to be the best cleaner I have ever seen.... Quote Link to comment
jefe de jefes
Incredible pink, never heard of it till now. I'll look into it. They sell hand cleaner without the grit I think. So what's wrong with your aircleaner? Too bulky? I have some small ones that might fit su's. Quote Link to comment
smelt240
Well, when I got the car, there was no filter in the housing,I looked around a bit,and didnt find one that fit as well as I wanted,so I built a billet setup that used a k&n clamp on filter from one of my ATV projects. It worked, but looked a lot goofier than I had hoped. I was just looking to clean up the engine bay, with the dual stacks like I run on the other cars. I have some of the carb parts/my spare intake polished up,and the stock setup just doesnt look good with the shiny stuff...Now it looks like Im going to polish the head, and the water neck..etc.etc....so i want something pretty on there. I found a set on ebay, but they want around $100 for two stacks,NOPE!....I can build the mounting flange easy enough,so I will probably go to the motorcycle scrap yard, and get some off an old bike, and rework them to fit.
