One of the formed intake coolant hoses sprung a leak. Moved it into the garage to swap in a new one.
 
Got distracted by things as you will see. I ended up finding the issue I have been with the ECU wiring was actually a bad ECU.
I had pulled apart all the wiring to troubleshoot, so I figured it would be a good time to wire it up correctly.
I tried finding a spot for my can/am, but couldn't find a way to keep it under my relay cover. I just bought new relays and started fresh.

 
I highly recommend picking up one of these, it's come in handy for way more than I ever thought it would. I tagged everything lol. 
 
 


 
With the wiring all tidied up, I printed out a sticker with the KA wiring and stuck it under the relay cover. 
 
 

 
 
 
I also took this opportunity to get rid of the flexible intake tube junk. I ordered some red silicone elbows and some 3" aluminum tubing, still waiting on some clamps.
Some new red spark plug wires helped my ocd, the blue ones were really annoying me lol. 
 
 

 
 
 
 
Then I go to close the hood and see the cowl panel moving on the drivers side. Well that is seized... and broken.

Got the hood off, might as well take advantage....  This was after I noticed the windshield washer bottle had a big hole in it and the motor was dead....

 

 

 

So I got a new washer bottle off ebay, Thanks Bill, looks almost brand new.    :thumbup: 

It didn't come with a pump, so I figured for $20 I would try one of these. 

 

 

Works great now :cool:

 

While messing around with all this crap I remembered the play in the wiper arms. Might as well take care of that too. :lol:

 

 

 

Filled the sockets with this stuff before I re-installed the linkage. 

 

 

...and that's where I am as of today. I need to paint the hinge brackets where I welded them.
I have the hinge arms and hardware soaking in evaporust and I am debating adding bushings, but might just grease them up good. They did last for almost 40 years. :lol:

 

One last shot. 

 

 

 

Got some other tidbits coming; nice battery tie-down, rear calipers to go disc and some other miscellaneous stuff.
Feels real good to have the ECU issue sorted. :)

I've looked this thread over pre-photobucket bastardy, but i guess i didn't look very well. I like the relay the cover you made and the way you assembled that upper radiator hose.

I really like the handbrake fab work.... Too many people blow off having a working handbrake.

 

The wiring diagram label is also slick. Can you post a closeup of that label? That looks like a great idea that might have to be borrowed ..... once I know our wiring on the 521 is final:)

 

I always enjoy your posts. Lots of pics, and clear explanations of what you did, and why.

 

Not to thread jack..... but you also post some awesome campsite pics of your green truck in situ in the woods.

You could get a side job doing tourism and camping posts for the great state of Washington:)

Yes I do. I did have one actuator die. But $10 got me a new one and I ordered an extra to throw in the glove box.

 

 

I don't really daily drive anymore since I started working from home.

The G35 and big green are my current choices though, as this one is in the garage for this round of repair/upgrades and I put the 411 away for the winter.

Haven't got to the handbrake yet, but it will have a working handbrake. I received the wrong calipers and am waiting on the correct ones before I tear apart the rear. 

If you mean the hinge work, thanks. I can't believe they are only held on with 4-6 spot welds from the factory.  :confused:

 

I just took the wiring diagram that Jeff provided in the How to wire a KA into anything thread and printed it on some sticker material .

 

Thanks, I love a good build thread and want to make sure mine are fairly thorough. Plus it helps to keep track of what I have done. 

 

 

Don't mind a good thread jack. I hope to get some good snow pics this season. :D
