Japanese <-> English doesn't always translate directly. It gets especially tricky in sentence structure. The kanji you showed on the shirt is pronounced: "nezumi taiyou"... which literally means "Rat/mouse/etc" + "sun" I understand the attempt to make "RATSUN" but to have kanji (which have meanings) put together, ends up not making sense. The correct way to go about is to use katakana "ラットサン” pronounced RATTOSAN (like it's ダットサン DATTOSAN counterpart) ...OR... (and this is really pushing it) to have kanji that SOUNDS like "RATSUN" but wouldn't have any meaning. 羅戸山 means WOOL/CLOTH-DOOR-MOUNTAIN 裸賭三 means NAKED-WAGER-3 ...yah...makes ZERO sense!
