Please help me!!

I've got a '72 521 p/up and I'm in the middle of doing a tune up. I need to know the plug wire firing order -- in the sense that which wire on the distributor cap runs to which spark plug?

It's an L16 block and an L18 head. The distributor has been converted to electronic. I got a distributor cap and rotor, NGK B6ES plugs, and 7mm wires from Schucks for a '75 620 that I'm told is supposed to work.

I know that the firing order is 1342... right??

Please help ASAP!! My poor little truck is sitting in my brothers driveway going nowhere!!!

Thanks in advance, Pat

i assume the truck ran before the tune up with the electronic ignition? to make sure you have the correct cap and rotor look at the numbers on the side and compare them to this 620.com link i'm not sure which caps are interchangable.

yes 1342 counter clockwise is correct. put the timing mark on the crank pully to 0 degres. rotor will be pointing at #1 on the cap or will be 180 degres off. to find tdc on compression stroke take off the valve cover and look at the two cam lobes for cylinder #1. if they're not both pointing up then rotate the crankshaft on revolution back to 0 degres and the 2 lobes should point up. at that position the rotor will point twards the #1 plug wire.

if you are just now putting in the electronic dist there is a write up on the 620.com http://www.the620.com/620tech.htm#

also try doing a search on the forum and buy a book.

nope, it was electronic before i started doing the tune up. i actually changed the dist. cap and rotor in the parking before leaving the parts store... then, i changed the plugs. but then, when i was changing the plug wires, they all fell off/unplugged at the same time, so i don't know which plug on the cap is 1.

i dont have the garage space, time, effort, warmth, or back strength to have the valve cover off, and turn the crank pully, and figure out which piston is TDC and where the rotor is. i simply wanted some to say something along the lines of, "if you're looking at the dist. cap from the front of the truck, the bottom left plug(closest to rad fan & valve cover) is # 1, so start there!"

that never happened, the truck was sitting in my brothers driveway... then i got ripped, walked away from the computer and went back outside, and POOF! i figured it out.

and i added in an MSD ignition coil. i'm trying to find out how to wire up an MSD 6a box now!

thanks anyways, trucks running!
