Crank ID numbers? # for Z22 crank?

I know most nissan cranks have some numbers cast into them, for ID purposes I guess? V07 comes to mind for the LD28 crank. So, would anyone happen to know the number for a z22 crank?

I was finally able to contact the guy with the ad on craigslist with the "l20b" and "Z22" crank, but it turns out he's not sure what they are... The L20b crank mentioned in the ad, he says is actually an L18 crank, and he's sure of it. He says he thinks the Z22 crank is a Z22 because his friend told him.

So, anyone have a z22 crank to pull numbers off of? Hang510?

The L16/18/20B/ Z20 is fully counterweighted, the Z22/24 is not. Here is a Z22 and an L20B crank. Note that the L20B has extra counterweights on it, or, the Z22 is missing them. The extra weights help it to run smoother when revved higher.

Where are the numbers located on it?, never noticed them. If they are like L heads there might be several numbers. I'd go with the crank throws.

The numbers are usually located on one of the counter balances... The numbers are right in your picture... I adjusted the brightness and contrast to make it a little more visable...

I can't quite make out the last character... U6-something. I'd assume it was from an L20b.

I can ask him to send me a picture and that would narrow it down to being a z22/z24 crank, or not... But I can't use a Z24, so I need to get the numbers... I would rather not ask a complete stranger to try and measure it for me.

So would it be safe to assume that all nissan/datsun cranks '78 and newer have a number cast on them? Since the Z22 was 81-83 only, I would think that it would have a number also.

Maybe I'll just ask the guy to send me a picture of the crank if he is able too, and just hope it's not a Z24 crank...

Well I did a little searching last night, and came up with a possible z22 crank number, which was M90. I emailed the guy with that z22 crank on ebay, asked him, and he also gave me the M90. I'll assume M90 is a good number for the Z22.

Thanks for looking at your crank(s) Mike! So I called the guy back tonight, and told him to look for M90, 30W, or 30W40. He's supposed to call me back in a while... I'm still interested to see what yours says Hang510. That would be cool if it's 30w, which could confirm a second z22 crank number.

Another for M90! or 06W ;) Why don't we turn this into a tech thread? Amoung my searching I've found lots of other people asking the same question as this, but no one ever answers. If anyone has any cranks laying around easily accessable, why not list the casting numbers here?

I checked my 240z crank last night, and it's got E3141 on it... (E31 is cast into most 240z stuff I've seen like manifolds, etc.)

I dont know if this helps but here is a pic of my Z-22 crank installed. Unless my eyes decieve me I believe thats an M-90 by the #4 journal? The pans on it now so I cant check it again. Sorry. Have the guy send you pics of the cranks side by side. Looks pretty easy to tell the diff between the two.

Well the guy called me back today... One crank has a U60, and the other has a U67... I bet their both L20b cranks. That's too bad...

Tell him to send a picture. The Z22/24 has 4 counterweights the L20B has 8, a big difference. Check the first picture.

Numbers or not... I would measure the rod to mains center line distance to be sure.
