1. drain and remove transmission

2. remove pressure plate from flywheel (catch the friction disc)

3. (Optional) remove and replace pilot bushing in crank

4. (Optional) remove flywheel and have resurfaced and/or lightened - change rear main seal - replace flywheel

5. hang new clutch friction disc on flywheel using alignment tool

6. install new pressure plate

7. remove throwout bearing from carrier on transmission input shaft and replace with new bearing. you'll have to remove the carrier to do this (Clip)

even first time should only take an afternoon at best. Obviously longer if you choose to take the flywheel to be resurfaced. approx. 3-5 hours total

That's the quick and dirty explanation. Really once you lay under there, it's pretty self explanatory. BUT if you need more help just ask.

Don't forget the shifter. The I remove the C clip under the rubber boot, some poeple remove the 6 12mm bolts though....

Jack up the front of the engine to give youself more room if needed, the s13's are tight in that respect.

I would get the flywheel resufaced for sure.

I don't consider #3 an option (but that's just me) the pilot bushing supports the front of the input spline and if slightly worn allows the clutch disc to wobble and vibrate. New they are only $3 at Nissan. They are easy to remove and install and worth the insurance.

If the flywheel looks smooth with only very minor scratches you can hand sand with 200 grit paper. This will remove imperfections and remove the glase on the surface.

The release bearing will likely come un-greased. It will need to be packed so follow the manual recommendations or have a shop do it.

Lightly wipe some lithium grease on the input splines and wipe off with a rag. Be sure to clean and re-grease the pivot arm contact surfaces, ball socket, and slave cylinder push rod surfaces with lithium grease also.

since you are in everett go to Jays machine shop. He is a hillbilly but he does them within an hour and its only $25-$35 depending on how much he likes you.

Its located near the corner of Evergreen way (hwy99) and 112th st. two buildings south of the Arco ampm on the east side of the highway. If you call him you have a 10% chance of them answering the phone. I always just show up and he gets it done.
