Mike,

Cool truck!, what did it take to get the 720 dash in a 620? Mine needs a dash pad, this may be my answer...

Hey mike i found the package with the paperwork from the previous owner, and its led me to believe he was the second owner,
as he recorded the milage when he got the car at 14355 miles plus 18892 miles so i m thinking the speedo was replaced at 18892
the records i have start at in 93. PM your address and i will send this info your way.

You can't really change one thing without everything else. Well I changed the entire wire harness and steering column over to 720. This allows me to use the steering column headlight on/off/dim/turn signal stalk and the wiper on/off/variable pulse delay wiper stalk on the right side. Good riddance to the crappy 620 ones. I changed the column because I swapped in a power steering box but did run the 620 column for a while with the 720 stuff on it so it can be done. I didn't keep the pathetic 620 heater and blower but instead swapped in the 720 unit. I never checked to see if the 620 could be kept and 'grafted' onto the 720 dash or not... maybe. The 720 dash has side defrost vents that blow on the side windows to defrost them, very nice! The 720 heater mounts roughly in the same location as the 620 but the massive blower assy is on the far right where the 620 glove box and wiper motor are. I opened a new air supply hole there and closed off the middle 620 hole and mounted the blower assy tight up under the passenger side dash after moving the wiper motor outside the cab under the cowl. To hide the bottom of the heater I installed a 720 4X4 consul with oil pressure and volts gauges. Because I had the 720 wiring already there everything plugged in and worked.

There were dealer 4X4 conversions made on 620s using Jeep Dana axles and trans cases.

datzenmike - the car looks great! I can't wait to see the build on this one. Keep us informed!

I saw three of these parked outside the local Starbucks this morning, which tells me only one thing. There's too many self indulgent wieners in this city with too much bloody money. Now, if I was driving a 1973 610 four-door...
You would not be a self indulgent wiener, sir. You'd be a connoisseur.
Precisely. Champagne would fall from the heavens. Doors would open. Velvet ropes would part.

Well yesterday on a tip from a Realm member I managed to get a clutch and brake pedal as well as some 'extras'.

Posted Image

Got my missing grill emblem:

Posted Image

One of my rear side markers was broken and replaced with red plastic... not a bad job actually but I got replacements and these stock? wipers to replace the ugly Canadian Tire plastic ones:

Posted Image

I cut about 8 feet of the top of our rotten plum tree so that if it blows over this winter it won't hit the car. I then loosened the lugs and raised the rear up off the ground and removed the wheels. H-165-B with leaf springs:

Next thing is to get the front up on stands also. This will keep it drier underneath and I can work on it without bending over as much.

Well I now have the front end elevated and wheels off and stored.

Still has the spring to hold the flex hoses up!

...and the angled pads.

Found out I have an elephant oil cap!!!

Posted Image

Has this name on the resonator and muffler. If this is the factory is it possible it's 35 years old??? Could be a dealer replacement part? Odometer shows 23,138 miles so it's either right, or 123,138.

I think the Maxima strut will work Mike. Depends on the ride height you want also. Pull one out and try the Maxima strut in there! Look at the top of the stock strut too, is there a offset top hat to correct camber?

No camber plates. But I have a '76 710 goon in town that does.

Posted Image

Wow enough for today. I will pull one out and try it. I don't suppose the Maxima hub/rotor/caliper will just pop onto the 710 spindle???

You know Mike, I've been told that the 610/710 struts have the larger spindle common to later Nissan models, I believe I have 610 struts in the black 'goon with GIANT rotors on them so this may be true. Give it a try and see, won't hurt anything right?

Easier too. The Maxima was built on the 280zx platform and although the vented rotors and calipers aren't an exact match they are very similar in size. The boots are still un-torn in these 710 struts too. Isn't there a way to replace the shock oil? The Maxima springs would be stiffer too?
