hacked521
thanks man, its nowhere near done though. i put the switch panel in the dash to see how it fits and looks and then drilled some holes for my tiny gauges :P Quote Link to comment
elmerfudpucker
He even has room on the panel for the smoke screen, oil slick, and rocket launcher! ;) That lil monster is gonna be real quick!! Keep up the good work! Quote Link to comment
hacked521
i know right lol! wont need the smoke screen though, hopefully an oil slick never happens and perhaps the rocket launcher will be put in. i got a little done, ran some airlines and made some adapter fittings to get the valves connected to air. the black line bridges the two frame rail tanks to keep them equalized and supplies the valves. the two white colored airlines are going to be routed to a "t" on the front and to a "t" on the rear. Im also trying to decide what to do about my callipers, wether to paint them black to somewhat hide them or... to paint them a color that makes the calliper stand out or even matched to the eventual body paint color(the factory light blue). ... im kinda leaning to painting them black. bonvo
i would stick with black so let me get this straight the frame rails are the air tanks? Quote Link to comment
hacked521
yep, from the cab back they are. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
nice but had to have been a bitch to make sure the frame rails water tight Quote Link to comment
67 411
That's a cool idea for the air tanks I haven't heard of that before nice job. Quote Link to comment
hacked521
bonvo, it actually wasnt that bad, once i layed a full bead on the rails i pumped them full of 175 psi and then checked the beads for bubbles with windex. i only had two pin hole leaks which were easily fixed. 175 is about 50psi than what i am ever going to run. 67 411, thanks i didnt want to run any air tanks this time. I had never heard of anyone doing it until i searched it and found a couple on mini truckin and a couple in truckin. oh well. Quote Link to comment
cl72wagon
While I was down here in tucson i met up with brandon and he gave me the tour of the truck. It was good to meet him. I will say the work he is doing on this truck is awsome. It was cool to see it in person. He has done a ton of work on this truck. I cant wait see what else he does with it. Quote Link to comment
hacked521
thanks again for the compliments, it was nice for someone from ratsun to finally see the progress of the truck in person. i got some parts in and got a little bit of work done. got a different air-filter and a 3 inch pipe to go to the filter side of the turbo. i got these heims and adapters for the spindles so i can change bump-steer and get rid of the tie-rod ends. installed, unfortunately the shank on the output shaft on the rack is just too short for me to feel safe enough to leave it like this. im going to have to have some adapters made to get a little more strength. made this bracket to mount the heim to the steering shaft. ended up like so, ill probably end up putting a cap to the top of the bracket and having the extra length of the heim cut off. this way i can get the a-arm on and off. got all my air lines ran. got a v band for the muffler so that will be easier to take on and off without leaks. and to end it up, my fuel filter element finally came in. its a stainless unit, same stuff we have used in our racecars which we run methanol through so it should be perfect for this. jon521
That's a cool idea for the air tanks I haven't heard of that before nice job. ive also heard of 4x4s using the roll cages as air compessor tanks. i guess it sucks if you roll and punction the cage. trucks coming along man, lookin good (: Quote Link to comment

hacked521
thanks for kind words! jon521- yeah i cant see using the roll cage as an air tank as a good idea...considering what its going to be used for lol i got an 8.8 out of a mustang from a friend of mine! its got a lsd too. thats about it for progress, the racing season is about to start here so all my time has been going into getting the new race car done. hacked521
i finally got a bed!!! huge thanks to Gene Knight. I got the floor cut out of it and nearly got it sitting on the truck correctly. Had to make a letter to replace the D on the tailgate, youll see in the pictures what im talking about. going to have to raise the floor about 6.5"...which means ill still have a pretty use-able bed! Ive all ways thought about doing this, but wanted the R not so noticeable so it matched the rest of the font on the tailgate. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Awesome work. Good idea with keeping the horizontal line of the R at the same height of the A's line. Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
i got these heims and adapters for the spindles so i can change bump-steer and get rid of the tie-rod ends.were did you orderthose heims and adapters Quote Link to comment
hacked521
from speedwaymotors.com . I dont know if you noticed, im not running nissan/datsun spindles. they are mustang II spindles, i think you would have to open up the factory spindles for the adapters to work. just fyi. thanks laecaon! i hope it comes out as seamless as im hoping. Z chopper
I see what you did now, cool idea. You used part of the letter A from another tailgate as part of the R Quote Link to comment
hacked521
you got it Z chopper, its part of an A,U, and D. it was out of a 620 tailgate, it was pretty rough and not really use-able. Quote Link to comment
hacked521
Got a little bit of progress... Got the bed mounted, on the front... ...and the back. Also started to get the tail lights sorted out. Also couldnt hold back from showing my little side frankenstein project. This is the future engine for the 521... 1 Quote Link to comment
