After running some numbers and consulting my weegee board,i'm gonna look for something in the 3.90 range for the 620.

Probably a wise choice.

Ah, maybe not in N AM. For 510 I'll defer to someone who has one. I have an old manual from the '60s and it lists 3.70 and 3.90 for the goon. I always thought the strange wording was a translation thing. So... 3.90 then?

I be thinking all of the 'goons where a 3.889 rear end ratio Mike, I'll look around some more, but, a 4.11 would probably work well in a 'goon with a 2L or smaller, 3.889 for bigger than 2L ...

I have a 1966 520 that I am installing a L20B with an automatic in. I have a 1980 720 chassis that has a 3.889 H190-ML diferential in, I am planning on swapping third members and from all the research I have done this is no problem, just a matter of pulling axles and swapping.

1966 520 4.875 H190

1980 720 3.889 H190-ML

What is -ML?

Is this a bolt in swap?

While I have the axles out can I also swap the brakes, backing plates and all? Will they bolt up and will the drums & brake harware work on the 66 housing & axle shafts?

Reason for this is newer brake parts, hopefully easier to get in the future.

521 and early 620 were H-190-AL...... A was for Aluminum I believe (also used in the Roadster and 510 Goon)

620s were just H-190 (steel carriers from here on)

720s were H-190-ML and A ... I'm asking on another forum.

That's a fair deal for an LSD with only slight wear.

I'm looking at a Pick n Pull 1980 510 with an H190 diff for my 1959 truck. Any difference in the alloy or stell H190 carriers?

Aluminum H-190-AL carriers were used in the 521 and early 620, (to Sept '73 I think) 510 wagons and the earlier Roadsters. Everything since was steel I think.

I saw this add and was wondering about the Dyneer locking unit for the h190 diff advertised. Anyone used one of these?

There were different splines used so what does this LCD fit exactly? The goon and Roadster? the 521/620/720? It mayfit the H-190 but which one?

From a phone call i had with him a while ago, i think he told me it would fit the h190 form the 320 with a 3.9 ratio( i have no idea if this is correct)

Then it would have a 13 tooth side gear. Roadster, 510 goons and Maxima goons have 23 tooth splines, 520/521/620/720 are 29 tooth spline.

Saw that, and assumed he was replacing everything with the narrow 510 one. H-190 is overkill on such a small tuck.
