LeDevil
So I had a leak from one of the coolant passage hoses, I replaced all the hoses! Now I'm leaking coolant from what appears tobe under my intake manifold could my gasket be shot? Thanks in advance for any help Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, coolant can leak from the head gasket. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The '79 has a water passage in each of the two intake runners that match up to holes in the side of the head just below the intake ports. Check that the bottom row of bolts (the hard ones to get at) are tight. Are you running a header? The '79 will also have an outlet for these coolant passages in the intake. It's connected by a small hose, to a metal pipe that goes down to the lower rad hose-to-block inlet. This hose is often overlooked and never replaced. If it's rotted out, the water will run down the side of the block. Quote Link to comment
69FJWagon
also check the freeze plugs I have seen a few datsuns with high mileage leak from those also Quote Link to comment
LeDevil
I've currently replaced all those small "over looked" hoses and a few other ones but it seems it's that didn't help. I'll check the bolt idea and freeze plugs tomorrow thanks guys Quote Link to comment
