smokeybear
on my 521 l16 it sprays coolant where the head and block meet. im confused, could it be the headgasket, maybe a crack in the water jacket, something else?? if the l gods could help me out on this it would be much appreciated and would def. keep me from selling my truck. Bleach
most likely it is the head gasket Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Cracked L-series blocks (cracked from overheating, not from freezing) usually don't leak externally, but a blown head gasket will. Probably a warped head to go along with it if it's spraying, though I've seen where it LOOKED like a head gasket but was just a pinhole leak in a hose that happened to be deflected right at the gasket. 71-521
or possibly a freeze plug with A pinhole spraying... Quote Link to comment
kansascity1
It was a gasket, blown right at the edge of the head Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
KC1, mine blew two weekends ago. Pass side #4, gasket split from the cylinder through the water jacket and on out through the side beside the heater hose. No warning and no reason, 300,000 Km and never touched the motor till now. Wierd eh? Quote Link to comment
kansascity1
yeah. That is where mine split. Not quite that far though. Just from the water jacket out. Quote Link to comment
