irsa76
Just got an '81 720 and was wondering if parts off the D21 pickups can fit. Quote Link to comment
tnip
what parts are you talking about? Quote Link to comment
irsa76
Suspension, steering, brakes and maybe interior pieces. 720s are a little thin on the ground here. Most seem to have rusted to death years ago. Quote Link to comment
kiznook
put the 720 cab on a d21 frame :) you'll get your engine swap and upgrade the other stuff. Good oportunity to do 4x4 swap to :D Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
To do the brakes you'll need everything from the spindle out. I'm using 95 frontier brakes on my 78...79...or whatever....there's so many different years in my truck...I mean in my boxes and piles all over the garage :P You'll also want to grab the rubber brake lines an bango bolts. Easy upgrade to newer style calipers ;) Not sure on the steering but you might be able to cross reference the part numbers. I know the 521's and 620's use the same steering components. Never checked the 720's though. Either way you should be able to buy new steering components for the 720 at any parts store. I would go new for the piece of mind. Nice truck BTW. I used to have an 80...good times in that one :D Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Suspension, steering, brakes and maybe interior pieces. 720s are a little thin on the ground here. Most seem to have rusted to death years ago. Around here the '78 620 through '83 1/2 720s had the same pathetic discs and calipers. I think in '84 they were up-graded to vented discs and larger calipers and should just slide on. The 4X4 would be different. Check it out. Quote Link to comment
irsa76
Thanks for you help. Looks like I might have to vist a junkyard to investigate, if I can find one with both a 720 and a D21 at the same time! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The D 21 would have all the '84 720 stuff, and probably more. Go with the D 21 Quote Link to comment
