When you say head saver shim, I have a L20B that I have to put together and I had to buy a shim kit of a certain thickness because of the head surface being tried up. These shims go between the cam tower and head. Just wondering if you had the same thing. Ok now I look at the pics I see what you have it's like the head gasket.

Yeah Edekalil, I have the one that looks like a head gasket (copper shim part number 21178SP). I've also heard of the cam tower shims, but I thought this one would be easier and somewhat quicker to install. I pretty much just gave a few coats on both sides of the shim with copper coat in a can and set it on the block. Then I put a brand new head gasket on top of it and basically reassembled everything.  B)

I asked cause I had my cars sit for a long time (started having seizures and could not drive until I was seizure free for 6 months. That went on for about 3 years) and the gas got funky and got some rust in the tanks. That has been a pain but I learned from it, but if it's only been a couple of months then you should be fine. When the gas gets old from sitting it will smell like varnish when you run it. At that point you should drain it and not use it because it can do damage to the motor. I use only no ethanol in all my old cars now and I keep them running so I don't have that issue any more.
