edekalil
Fired up the Goon and aired it out, cleaned up the gas tank sending unit and made sure it works. Quote Link to comment
KoHeartsGPA
Apple vinegar worked? Quote Link to comment
Redrumls
Getting ready to lower this bad boy.. getting the front end parts together.. who sell good blocks for the rear? I think someone mentioned napa for the u bolts.. do they have blocks? On a rotary forum I get on, there a guy that wants to trade a 808/rx3 2dr for my rx3 goon.. what do you guys think... I like the 2drs but I had a vision of both the rx3 & 510 goon posted up side by side. 1 Quote Link to comment
paradime
New plate and yes, I know it's misspelled ;) thank you vey much 1 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Stay wagon redrum. Way cooler, and if his is an 808 then it's not even rotary. 1 Quote Link to comment
Redrumls
Thanks for the info lockleaf.! I didn't even think about that. I recall following a build of an 808 goon that was a non-rotary wagon that he covered to an rx3 from Australia. Greg Thanks for the info lockleaf.. Greg Quote Link to comment
edekalil
Apple vinegar worked?Yes it cleaned the rust off down to the bear metal. I used a tooth brush to gently brush off the rust, then rinsed it off with water to get off the vinegar then shot wd40 to remove the water then shot some marvel mystery oil on it. You have to be very carful to not damage the small variable resister wire. On of the things on YouTube that actually worked. This was what it looked like when I took it out. Here it is now. Now to do the sedan sending units. 1 Quote Link to comment
Redrumls
Wow! That worked pretty good! How long did you leave it in there? Greg Quote Link to comment
edekalil
It sat for 4-5 days in it. Any rust on the metal just came off when brushed with a tooth brush or even a smaller one and I used a small 6 in ruler layed flat pushing across the surface to get on the inside area just gotta be carful about the variable resister don't want to break that wire. I stayed away from getting near that area. 1 Quote Link to comment
edekalil
Got some fuel resistant hose that should work to replace the old hose out of this. Quote Link to comment
Ranman72
Did you check your head? also re torqued the head i forgot to mention that I got the torque spec from dave w and from dave at rebello I also re adjusted valves cold because rebello does his cold not hot and that was the spec he gave me 1 Quote Link to comment
Noflers
Hmmm, I always adjust mine hot on all motors. Reasoning, the engine spends more time hot than cold when you're using it. My old L18 tapped a little when cold, but was fine when hot. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
It would depend what specs you used... 1 Quote Link to comment
jay123
Put in the Subie 3.70 rear. New side seals and pinion seal with swapped 510 axle stubies. Started raining so I'll do the half-shafts install next week. Quote Link to comment

My old L18 tapped a little when cold, but was fine when hot. rebello uses specs for cold because he said by the time you get to the last valve the metal is not as hot as it needs to be for hot settings 1 Quote Link to comment

Ranman72
Would you have the cold setting values. on my cam grind .007 mm both intake and exhaust rebello checks it between the lash pad and end of rocker arm not your typical between cam lobe and rocker 1 Quote Link to comment
edekalil
Gonna try to get the cars cranked up and pull them out cause it looks to be a couple of nice days. Also try to look at some things related to getting the Goon gas tank back on. 1 Quote Link to comment

edekalil
Should have the correct size hose to hookup the gas tank on the Goon and sedan coming. Quote Link to comment
