well as for compliance with the local regulations. there is no compliance here. as far as this thread is concerned, its a track car only! we will only trailer this car to meets LOL. the wheels are 14x9's. they are way deep with 4 inches lip and 6 inch front spacing.

Speaking of which... I got someone with some dual SU's that will be going on my 810! ;)

This car is super-sexed-out-Ol'school-JDM-Tiiiiz-ight in person! These pix don't do it justice! And it's only going to get better!

BTW.. I have some 14x10 Slot Mags like the one's Boris has for sale.. hit me up.

There will be some slight changes in the near future... nothing big. I wanna slam it a lil more and possibly a new paint job. A few engine mods...

Anyone need any 810 parts??

and grilles

I have a later, squarish 810/910/Maxima grille (have to check what year) and a couple of 77 steering columns, too, that I am about to heave for scrap. If you feel like paying shipping cost for any of it, there seems to be ZERO interest in the ebay market for it and I don't have the time to sit on it.

Anyone interested in the 810 stuff I have/may have but haven't uncovered, touch base with me. Also, spread the word!! I have two S/W steering columns that are bound for a scrap yard probably tomorrow, because it is VERY hard to find a market for any of it. I don't want money, I want your cars alive a little longer!

I found an article about the 810 Maxima in a 1981 issue of Popular mechanics.  It's US sales figure of 67,071 goes half way into 1980 (1977-1980.5).  I'm not sure if the "910" 810 was introduced half way into 1980 or not.

~67,000 seems like a lot, I guess, considering how rare they are now.  I had a 1979 Volvo 262C Bertone, which had a worldwide (Not just US) production figure of ~6000, and they sold an even lower percentage of those to the US market.  MSRP on that Volvo as $15,995 back in 1979, which is a little over 50 grand in today's dollars.  Still, I see these for sale a hell of a lot more often than I see 810s.

Anyway, back to the Datsun.  According to Poplular Mechanics, the 1977 810 cost $5099 ($16,000ish in 2012 Dollars).  In 1979, my model year, it jumped up to $8129 ($25k).

The best selling car in 1977, the Chevy Impala, was only $4876!  They sold more than 600,000 on them that year.  In retrospect, we can see how awful the old impala was/is, but I guess in 1977 it was seen as a lot more engine/space than the 810.

Pop Mechanics goes through some of the reasons that the 810 was such a flop.  Seems like Nissan's marketing was mostly to blame.
