'72dime
My name is Shane and i just got a '72 dime for my first car. I got the cars on the 13th when my dad and i drove all the way to Oklahoma City to get a '72 dime 2dr and a '71 2dr. The '72 has all the body work done but no interior or engine/trans. I have already put maxima/200x rear disc brakes. (Designed the brackets and had them machined by a local shop) I also bought iron cross rims from a 280. I got them for a good deal. $100 for all 4. We have also rebuilt the heater box, works better than new. I have also restored the dash. My plans were to get a ka24e and do a engine swap. Also i was going to put 200sx front struts. I just wanted to introduce myself and ask for your opinions. http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/ad8/shanefulfer/3kb3p93lbZZZZZZZZZ95r241130a46c1218.jpg http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/ad8/shanefulfer/SafeRedirectaspx.jpg http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/ad8/shanefulfer/IMAGE_022.jpg http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/ad8/shanefulfer/datsun510.jpg http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/ad8/shanefulfer/IMAGE_023.jpg http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/ad8/shanefulfer/IMAGE_029.jpg Edited June 29, 2009 by '72dime Quote Link to comment

'72dime
Yeah i want it that low also, but that was with no springs and on the bump stops. Thats how we picked it up, but we are going to put honda s2000 rear springs (that came with it) on it. Anyone try these? Here is a picture of the springs. ][/url] Quote Link to comment
'72dime
I need some help, I found a vg30det with everything minus he wiring harness for $250. Will the det fit? I found a kit on teamthump but i dont know if it will still fit with the turbo. So anyone know if this will fit in my 510. Thanks Shane Quote Link to comment
Twiggz
other people have fit the VG30DET into a 510 before, but I don't think it was as easy as the NA version. The NA is a tight fit. Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
Stick with the KA you were talking about earlier. A turbo VG30 takes up a LOT of engine bay space, and it's pretty difficult to fab up the custom exhaust manifolds you'll need for it. Very difficult project, way up on the skillz-needed ladder. The regular VG30 though is a great engine with tons of torque, and rather easy to fit. Quote Link to comment
'72dime
Yeah i did research after i posted that and i figured out the same thing. Now me and my dad came to the conclusion the best way to go is to buy a ka engine block with heads at the local pick and pull. Then buy a engine rebuild kit for around $250. After that send off my head and pay $250 and sends me back a remanufactured head, cams... Then i would have a brand new engine. Quote Link to comment
SRSANDS
There is or was a ka24e motor tranny and ecu on CL in seattle i think for 160.00 if your dads down for another trip :). I emailed that guy just to ask how the quality of the Carbon Fiber hood was and where he got it.....no reply :( Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
Nah, too much work. Just wait and find a good used KA and throw it in. Some of the guys throwing SR20's into their 240ZX's end up selling their KA's. They'll go 300k if they are taken care of, so just find a decent one and don't bother with the rebuild.
