Pacific coast Datsun
When you cap the end of this rail/window frame piece, are you going to weld a nut on the back side first, then use it for the mount bolt location for the front on each side? Wayno..what we worked on yesterday will tie into where my finger is. It involves alot of staring and thinking of the end result but it'll be trick once completed. Quote Link to comment
Steroid
HOORAY ! ! ! I AM ON RATSUN AGAIN ! ! ! Here are some pics: This view shows what is going on here. What You see is the front of another roof that will lay over the dually's roof in the front, making it appear factory when shown. When the roof is removed, You will see the same piece where the windshield gasket is. This picture shows the topside. See how the once butterscotch piece lays over the primered dually's front? Next We had to figure out a way to add a piece so thet the roof would not slide forward when clamped. This piece has to "mirror" the dually's windshield frame and also must have a gasket glued to stop water and wind from coming in. That is where these pieces come in: Then You can see still one more roof's donation, the red piece. This keeps the roof skin accurate to curviature and will form the bracing that will be needed for the latches to be installed to. the area between the ground down area on the red piece will "bridged" to the accurately curved pieces made from the square stock. This also will be where the front of the upholstery will graft to for the headliner. Finally, here are some pics, inside and out, of the side railing: The goal is that when finished, the dually will look like it came from the factory either with, or without the top. HUSSCO INDUSTRIES HAS DONE IT AGAIN ! ! ! ! STAY TUNED ! ! ! 2 Quote Link to comment

Pacific coast Datsun
Sweat Mike. I like all the thought that is going into this. Nice work Mark! Thanks Charlie it's definately being pieced together slowly & once the 510 wagon roof braces are welded back in it'll have almost no flex. 1 Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Another half day of fab work & good progress was made. the red section is off another 620 roof....... the blue sections will now bridge the front brace to the red section... all 3 blue sections now tacked in place... i added the small section today so it now fully overlaps... & here you can see how it's taking shape. Its very strong with no flex. Now we have a mounting surface for the roof clamps... The wagon roof braces have been prepped & will be welded on soon to prevent the skin from "oil canning" .... 2 Quote Link to comment
