good point. it might not be a 510. at my first glance i thought it was a lada i didn't recognize or something that i def wouldnt' recognize like a renault or something. but with the nissan engine and those box flares coming up to the body line like that i just assumed it was a 510. i could be wrong.

also: where the fuel filler is.

p.s.: upon closer inspection of a few of these pictures i also don't know why they say it's russian, or why i assumed they were right, they were so obviously wrong about the boost system. all the signs in the background are in english. idk. it's weird tho. :D and did you guys notice the celica with the rising sun in the background of the one shot?

510 with the rain gutters shaved? I think theyre might have been a mild chop to the roof?

body line on the doors is portrudes too much. way too much work went into it. ALSO not in the US, look at the ruck in the background, and guessing by the climate, not Japan or near

no when i said english i just meant maybe it's in england. this thing is def not in the us. and like i said, maybe i was a lil too quick to call it a 510, hell it could've started life as a full size dodge ram... you never know what people have done. HAHA ok maybe that's a little bit of a stretch.

i really would like to know more about this thing. like you said, alot of work went into it, whether or not it's ugly is beside the point to me. crazy mods and interesting engineering and design stuff always gets me wanting to know more.

I knew it wasn't a 510 from the roof line, but that could have been modified. The giveaway was the strut towers/inner fenders and the core support. Who would adapt different stock oem towers?

then I searched russian rb26dett lada or something like that

LADAs were built in Russia, and ones of that vintage were Soviet so you'd see 'em all over the Soviet Bloc (East Germany, Hungary, Czeckoslovakia, etc). Russian vehicles are LHD. I've ridden in a Soviet truck (in Egypt!).

It does look like a LADA. LADA clones were built all over behind the Iron Curtain, and were actually superior to the East German Trabant. That isn't saying much.

Both have major cult followings nowadays, but when the Iron Curtain fell folks couldn't abandon them fast enough.

I don't have any pics on this computer. I need to get pics tomorrow.

Do you have a JDM engine shop up in Monroe in the industrial area west of town?? I think I seen your car about a year ago with a SR in it. Tube framed with a 300zx rear suspension yada yada yada. That thing looks like fun to drive. We spoke a little bit about dimes. I was looking at SR motors at the time fro my 510.

Post some pics....either way.
