I've always heard about doing this swap, but I have never come across a vid or how-to about doing it. If there's other out there....link them up here smile.gif

I'll try to add some more pics to this thread....but I wanted to get the vids uploaded smile.gif It takes a bit more time to load, but it sure is a lot faster than trying to type out all the details!!!

Any diff guys out there....feel free to add info to this thread.

Okay....the jist of this swap is to put truck spider gears into a wgn diff. The axles are two different sizes. The advantage to doing the spider gear swap is that the ring/pinion setup stays the same.....you don't have to re-shim the diff. Here's the vids for starters smile.gif

Seems the audio and video aren't quite synced up right sad.gif

"looking for a pair of side gears from a 510 Wagon H190 differential. These are the gears inside the differential that the splines on the axles slide into.

Here is the parts page, #11 on the diagram, PN 38423-14600

These also can be harvested from a Roadster, 610 wagon and 810 wagon."

no time at the moment to write anything up, but maybe the pics will fill in some gaps.

The thrust washers (#14) in the picture, is what the Phantom Grip LSDs pinch between the pinion gear and the housing. In effect forcing it to act like a clutch. If anyone still has thoughts about getting one, this should change your mind.

It's the smaller copper colored 'washer' in this picture:
