    • I ran into those hurtles. The BEST solution is to use an electric turbo from a new Audi. They are designed to run in pairs on a V8 but a single would be fine for a four banger Nissan. Either they are too new, or other back yard hacks have reached the same conclusion, because the Audi electric turbos are still over 1k used and they are only one piece of the awesome Audi system. A 72v battery pack charged from regenerative braking and/or a generator off the turbo shaft making the battery pack mostly "free" energy. Audi uses an advanced ECU to balance boost and efficiency. I would simplify it (out of necessity, I have no clue how to reprogram an Audi ECU) and use the Audi turbo only at low rpm, like a launch assist. I would like to use it more but =simple steps.  While the above works out on paper, it is more complicated than I want to make my truck and my next project (the LJ20) already has the foundations for a hydraulic launch assist, I continue to hold hydraulic over electric for energy storage applications, until batteries become so fantastic, other methods/modes of storage are no longer practical.   Many years ago, I picked up a hydraulic fan motor and considered creating a "hydraulic turbo" for low rpm operation, run off a high pressure accumulator, charged by a pump attached to an axle or wheel hub and powered by regenerative braking. However, it appears to be a more efficient use of regenerative braking energy to re purpose it directly into powering the wheels for launch assist and not directing it to a turbo, to more efficiently operate an engine, to power a hydraulic pump, to fill an accumulator, to operated a hydraulic motor, which powers the wheels at low rpm creating "launch assist".
    • Happy 510 Day! This marks two years since I started this thread. It's been a while and though I haven't progressed on the 510 I've been busy doing other things. I took the 510 out of the shop to replace the evaporator on my wife's Nitro and while I had it in there I replaced the heater core the distribution box and the clock spring. There had been some leaking from the sunroof so I dropped the headliner and removed the whole interior to clean the drains, the rust and repainted the floors. There were a lot of little things to fix along the way.       After that I started to clean up and because of a some negative feedback about collecting to much stuff I made my wife the 1x42" belt sander she wanted for her wood crafts. When picking up the sander parts at the thrift store I came upon a file cabinet, so that came home with me for the welding cart. After some yard cleanup that included disassembling the A10 wagon it seemed like it was time to use the bent trailer hitch I brought home when I worked at the collision repair shop in Jan of '23 for mounting the vise on my BBQ cart.             The file cabinet was 22 gauge and the hitch was 1/4' plate so I was able to test the extremes of my welders abilities, I am happy with the Lincoln welder. There were some school lockers in the carport when I bought this house and when we tore it down for the shop addition they sat in a ShelterLogic tent with a bunch of piles of lumber and such which had to be moved for the driveway relocation. They sat for almost a year outside then I had to move them to put in a garden, now I have a new batch of 20 gauge steel panels for making Datsun parts. This morning I went out and removed the tarp off the 510 and cleaned up the area to be ready to work in it but worked on the bbq cart instead because I want it for making Datsun parts.         I still need to do one more scrap metal dump run then I can focus fully on the 510, except of course when work calls or there is some more yard work.
    • My mistake. It's the 7th month or so of this recent incident. How about less than a year ago ? Have I mentioned Hamas propaganda ?
    • Uhhh yeah they were. Hamas attack was Oct. 7th. The Israeli ground invasion of the Gaza Strip was Oct. 27th. There were aerial attacks and bombing by the IDF the same day. Not sure if bombs, or rockets or both used but almost surely bombs.   I may have missed an earlier mention of bombing but clearly... Nov. 6 Israeli Air Force planes continued their bombing campaign throughout Gaza, striking some 450 targets overnight, as other Israeli forces captured a Hamas compound, IDF officials said in a statement. It's about 2/3 to 3/4 into this... https://abcnews.go.com/International/timeline-surprise-rocket-attack-hamas-israel/story?id=103816006    So yes the US could have done more a long long time ago when the death toll rose.   Oct. 23 The death toll in Gaza has exceeded 5,000 so far in the war, which is now on its 16th day, according to the Palestinian Health Authority.   I'm sure you'll say that's Hamas propaganda.
    • Israel wasn't bombarding Gaza last year. They didn't need to. Aren't they jumping out at the end ? Bidens says he's cutting off military aid now. He needs the Muslim votes.
