Sorry for the long delay in getting back to this thread. I actually had to go to work and earn some money; got home and went directly to work on the 2 loose crankshafts, and the 4 loose camshafts that I had - they’re all cleaned up now and Looking good. It turns out that the A87 head that I have, is an SSS, with the peanut combustion chambers, larger valves, and large smooth intakes ports. Question: Did this originally come on an L18 or an L20B? I also have three 210 heads; one of which has some very large/smooth intake ports and some nice unshrouding work on the valves; would this have been only for the L16, or has this been reworked for something else? I guess the question is: why would anybody bother with a 210 head? Or is this somehow special?

I know, I was asking him. I read that in his post earlier and it made me pause for a second 🤔 ???? I just figured that maybe he knew something I didn't? Maybe he had taken peak at Tucker's last physical results looking for some ammo to knock him down a peg or two in destruction. 😆

Hey Guys, Doing my first tranny swap (no surprise there lol) . I want to have everyhting needed . I bought a 5 spd out of a 260z which is likely a 280 trans since 260 never had one stock. I cant find a single # on it outside the clutch fan. I am planning to buy the mounts off techno toy tuning https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/510/datsun-510-universal-transmission-mount it looks decent and Im gonna grab the poly mount also . I like that they allow for the exhaust channel space. Has anyone used this before? I saw another on Zcardepot https://zcardepot.com/collections/transmission/products/transmission-mount-bracket-510-68-73?_pos=1&_sid=8ed6b89b3&_ss=r&variant=31285416067185 it seem s abit less sweet but its only 40$ I may buy it in case and sell if not needed. Few questions if anyone used these or was able to modify the stock 510 or z tranny mounts? Second where the F__K are the serial or model #s on a z tranny? Ive cleaned all the gunk and found nothing. Im hopeful its not a truck tranny but either way I feel like I should have found a serial # somewhere. I found a 15 year old thread that stated no numbers in a z tranny but people were arguing the issue and I cant find the thread again. Any help is appreciated. Im asuming the clutch slave and starter will all be Z standard also since the Rockauto shows only one for all years and models (except ZX I think)....

Thanks, First Ive heard of recurve but IM putting money into the motor now and possibly the head also if I can get a knowledgable machine shop. Like you say Im currently running 2" exhaust (upping to 2.5" next) . heat shield is in the mail. I was planning just to use a matchbox dizzy or other electronic ditributor. I havent heard of recurve and will spend some time with that thanks. The Porting may also come now but Im thinking it will wind up waiting for awhile since everyone I talk to is so busy and wants my motor in and out , I finally found a recommended guy in Mission BC who is willing to spend some time with me so I will see waht I can work out with him on the rebuild.

36 and 37 are the pin numbers on the actual light switch. It's on, on the first and second headlight positions. Power is from the 13th fuse (15 amp) from the left or the third one back from the right. The light switch is greased but after almost 40 years it has collected dirt and dried out. Try a can of electrical contact cleaner. Spray liberally and work the parking light switch. You'll probably have to remove the two piece plastic clam shell around the steering column and the steering wheel to really get at the switch properly.

I don't know...EFI is simple and reliable really. So many ways to tune etc as well. So is the LS in with no mods to bonnet?

Yes I noticed that but I was referring to the switch inside. I don't know which pins are for the park lights since there's this community I need to pass to get to farm which requires you to have the park lighta on during the day and I've been stop by the patrol of the community since I have those wired with the headlights and they say it's only the sides that needs to turn on not the headlight since I have led lights so they say it's "distracting". What I've done these days y just disconect my low beams so they don't turn on but I am tired of that so I wanted to qirw it so they work like they supposed to with the switch but I can't find those pins lol

Why would low sperm count matter? unless making babies. I'd be more worried about low T.

Left front lights... The amber combination lamp has... Green/Red to the turn signal bulb Red/Yellow to the parking lamp bulb and also the side marker lamp Black ground for both. If the other side works then the light switch is working as it powers all clearance lights front and back and all running or parking lights front or back. If all front left side not working then possibly the ground is bad. If one lamp not working then bad bulb or the ground to that bulb.

Hello people well I've been having this problem, until now I got time to mess around with the 720's light switch. I've been following a diagram I found online (because a manual that I ordered online cane water damaged) I shows me the pins for the left and right head lights. On the left 8 pin conector I noticed they are 2 pins thatthe diagram didn't say anything about but I had the idea of them being the park lights but i am not too sure. I've tested for continuity but they don't have I am not sure if it's the switch or if I am wrong about them being the park lights. Where do I locate Any plug or pins for the park lights.

Unless they have broken or failed I would leave them. Nothing wrong with a stock coil. An after market coil is likely inferior quality. I've seen several manuals and I can't figure it out. Get a volt meter or a test lamp. Pull the first fuse on the far left side of the fuse box, this removes power from the exhaust coil wire. Test the wires. The one with power in the intake coil wire. Plug the fuse back in and test the wires. The second wire that now has power is the exhaust coil. With the power wires identified, the other remaining two wires go to the - or negative sides of the coils. Coils are identical, they fire together. Doesn't rally matter if you mix up the coils.

I'm replacing coils on intake and exhaust coils. I'm showing a "BR" wire and "WL" wire for intake but manual doesn't show which one goes to positive and which one goes to negative. Same for exhaust coil "BW" and "R" wire but which ones go to positive and which to negative. Please advise. Thanks

I haven't run a gauge on it, no. It claims to be 2.5-3 psi. I have it wired to a switch and even with it off, there are no changes in how the truck runs.

make sure you have a good ball joint seperator like this one the pickle forks do not do the job at all but I did have to cut the stud on the lower joint with a angle grinder to get it to push on it straight. Make sure you have a extra jack or something though to move the bottom control arm to help get the bolts lined up for the ball joint. And no you dont have to touch the end on differential, like bottomwatcher said just pop off the snap ring and the axle should slide out the hub.
