    Blown HG?

This is a coolant recovery cap, see the two rubber seals? It allows coolant out if it exceeds the 13 PSI limit and stores it in the coolant recovery bottle. As long as the hose is submerged in the recovery bottle, when the air in the radiator cools and shrinks it will draw the expelled coolant right back into the radiator keeping it topped off. The radiator should be filled to the top when you check if working properly. All coolant expands when heated and after shut off the temperature inside the block can rise slightly above boiling and the pressure goes up before returning to normal. This is why an air space of an inch or so is used on regular radiators to allow for expansion. I used to top up a cup or so every week in the summer, but after installing the coolant recovery it's once a year.
  3. I started early yesterday so I was a little more "Advanced" than usual when hitting the evening check on ratsun. It was a good thing though. The local brewery has a harborfront beer garden that overlooks the lobsterboats and bridges over the harbor. They have a large chiminea burning this time of year and the place is enclosed in plexiglass so it is warm (this is Maine). Anyways every other Tuesday is fiddleband night. Folks filter in after work and start fiddling away on a small stage. The circle grows as more people show up and they jam away mostly Irish tunes. There is probably 50 people watching which is a large gathering in Maine and every single one of them has a smile on thier face. This is like living a cheesy hallmark movie and my wife and I love it! We bitch and moan about how shitty this country is becoming but there are still some wonderful pockets of "civilization" out there. It's just getting harder to find.
  4. My oldest son got a Ruger 10/22 for his 14th birthday, mostly because it's what they shot with in Boy Scouts. Son #2 hated shooting it because he's left handed. 😄 A bolt-action might be the smarter play just because all your kids are lefties.

    Blown HG?

Those are cheap enough.... Might be worth replacing.... I had one that would randomly let coolant out.... you could actually hear the spring pop open..... a new one solved my problem..... Looks like a factory radiator so auto parts store should have.... Just make sure when installing there is a little tension pushing back up when you push down.... Something I ran into with my radiator being an aftermarket aluminum was that a factory cap fit but wasn't long enough to seal the bottom opening....

I'm wondering about the radiator cap also. I'm nor sure how to tell if it's right. I probably bought it at O'reily's or Autozone. Yesterday when I got the engine warmed up, I did not notice any change in the coolant reservoir.
  8. Could you kindly share a parts list of the components for the front suspension drop. What size drop blocks did you use on the rear axle? I have a 1978 620 longbox, thank you, Wayne

    Blown HG?

I have not been filling the radiator up to the top. It's maybe half an inch down. Could this air at the top cause the bubbles? I'll top it off today. I have not noticed steamy exhaust. I'll check today.
  10. "Come A Little Closer", by Cage The Elephant. Here's a catchy tune that sounds like it came out in the 60s but was actually written and released in 2013.
  11. "City of New Orleans" by Willie Nelson. Story time - Funny how I first heard this song. I purchased a record player at a thrift store a while back. I needed a record to test the record player with. So I grabbed the first record I saw on the shelf at that thrift store. Turned out to be a record that only had this song on it. I played it over and over for the rest of that day. Didn't know much about willie and didn't care much for his music before that. But this song is the jam!
  12. "Cemetery Gates" by Pantera. Another excellent power metal ballad from Pantera.
  13. Not a 10/22. Bolt action. We did not want the kids to have semi auto for their first gun. And, yes. Left eye. All 3 of my kids are.left eye. Goofy fuckers.
  14. i got to see them live opening for another band her tag line at the end of the play set was THANKS FOR COMING YOUVE BEEN GREAT WEVE BEEN GARBAGE i thought it was pretty funny and clever
  15. The pictures are fantastic! (and give me hope) One of the photos threw me for a minute, until I realized there's a lefty :)
  16. I am not up on the new stocks, is that the tired, true and awesome Ruger 10/22?
  17. Dunno, the Dodges I find worthy might fill one hand. Valve seats are back ordered everywhere, so I ordered some custom cut out of inconel (there are many available that are really close and the custom cut to match the specifications necessary for the KA24E was a $4 charge) The project marches on!
  18. bendpak is always a great lift company i am sure there are other comparable but bendpak always comes to mind first
  19. The international man of mystery. I can relate. Other than here, I am mostly doing the same.
